Maybe not by brutal KO but there were some beat downs early on for Floyd. Most of the time he just made his opponent look like a rookie who just turned pro. I would rather just get KTFO than toyed with for 12 rounds
It's not his forte. It's like asking how many times did Magic Johnson or Larry Bird lead the NBA in scoring? NEVER! They could score when they wanted though. Floyd has dominated many opponents. He has even beaten down people especially he was referred to as PBF.
He actually beat up on a good deal of guys at the lighter weights. It was really only until he made his foray to WW- his 4th weight class- that the size of the fighters combined with his hand issues made him a lot more defensive oriented compared to how he fought at the lighter weights. He has some great performances between 130-140 lbs. Never had 1 punch KO power, but he did have more than enough to stun his opposition, and when he had his man staggered he'd almost always go for the kill. He had over a 70% KO percentage at SFW where he's arguably the best 130 lb fighter ever. It's a shame that a good portion of people will remember him as a potshotting, elite counterpunching defensive specialist because at the lighter weights he was a force to be reckoned with offensively. He used to seamlessly put 5-6 punch combinations together. He was constantly compared to Ray Leonard back in his actual prime, and that was solely from his offensive skill set.
ortiz complained in the lead up to the fight about mayweathers constant use of the elbow and other dirty tactics while the ref was giving a chat to ortiz and his team in their locker rooms you could see ortiz motioning the elbow and asking for weeks to keep an eye on it. fight starts and its nothing but ortiz cheeky headbutts and no elbow use from floyd... round 4 rolls around ortiz is getting OPENED UP ON with combos by floyd (when do we see floyd do this especially so early) ortiz was frustrated and done. if you dont think he would have been stopped later you are crazy
