The other side of that argument, would be what if he had an extensive amateur career, and was careful brought along by a brilliant trainer?

That is not a question that I am going to ask, since it is too speculative.

I personally suspect that he was timeless.

I honestly think that he would have knocked Hasim Rahman all over the place, and the rest I will take from there.

He had a pretty good teacher in Jim Corbett, how many rounds did he spar with him? Billy Conn was a great fighter how many amateur fights did he have?

The bottom line, is that he was fighting fringe contenders from his opening professional bout, and snotting them.

He got the title pretty quickly from there.

If he was advancing based on his physical superiority over the opposition, then you would have to say that he had a lot to show for it!

The bottom line is the fringe contenders you refer to were Griffin and Ruhlin both had only 8 fights a piece. The first two opponents Jeffries faced were having their debut fights, lets not get carried away here!

Choynski was giving away nearly 70 lbs!.Goddard was 40 years old! Jackson was a 37 years old consumptive alcoholic wreck who hadn't fought in 3years,even Jeffries called him shell.

Then why did Liston not only lose to Marshall and take other decent journeyman in 10 round fights?

Why did Foreman take Forte and Peralta the distance of ten rounds?

Surely these boxers were not as good as Jeffries competition.

Still shooting first, aiming later? Need a bit more information? Jeffries often fought in much larger rings, and for longer distances where the pacing was necessary.

I know you can learn IF you can just accept some facts. Give it a try sometime.

Also, Jeffries was a patient fighter, not trying to end his match quickly for the most part. Blow outs back then were frowned upon.

More education. It is estimated that Hank Griffin has dozens of fights before he first meet Jeffries. The eight fights you refer to is rubbish.

Ruhlin started boxing in 1893. It is likely he had more fights than is recorded at Box Rec

I'd consider him an ATG being only the fourth man to be the gloved heavyweight champion kind of grandfathers him in. In my opinion.

There were actually people calling for something akin to the cruiserweight division, towards the end of his title reign.

A few more champions like him, and the matter might have been broached earlier!

    I would have to say:

    1. That version of Fitzsimmons
    2. Burns
    3. That version of Corbett

Liston lost by a split decision to Marshall after sustaining a broken jaw in the 6th round.
Marshall has 25 fights under his belt to Liston's 7. Marshall was 180.5lbs.In the rematch Marshall had 29 fights experience to Liston's 9,Marshal weighed 181lbs and he was floored 7 times before being stopped in6 rds! In the Rubber match 34 fight Marshall fought strictly to survive, he did not win a single round!
Foreman 11-0-0 beat 43 fight veteran Levi Forte 199lbs by scores of 10-0-0 ,10-0- 0, 10-0-0!A blow out!
Foreman 11-0-0 fought 90 fight cutie Gregorio Peralta a 196lbs ranked heavyweight and won clearly .In the rematch Foreman became only the third man to ever stop the 116fight 197lbs Peralta!
Eight fight Jeffries went 20 rds to a diputed draw with167lbs Choynski, how many rounds do you think a 167lbs man would go with an 8 fight Liston or Foreman?

"Jeffries dropped Choynski with a left hook just before the bell ending round 3. It was the only knockdown in the fight. Joe drew first blood in the 11th. Choynski landed more often, especially with the straight left, but Jeffries landed the heavier blows. The San Francisco Call reported that Choynski deserved the decision"

You comparison is very, very dumb!!!

Blow outs were not frowned upon at all, provide one piece of evidence that supports this!
I know you cannot learn because you are too biased and plain prejudiced to ever advance your knowledge beyond that of a rudimentary toxic hater, you even managed to slip in some negative sh*t about Jack Johnson in this Jeffries thread.
You're a sad and lonely Klansman with no friends or allies and with only his hate to make life worth living.
