Bellew himself said he was drained to pieces at 175. The guy has had several fights at cruiser, and even fought at Heavy already. Is it not safe to say that he's clearly acclimated to that weight at this point, and easily a good sized cruiser? Yes, I agree those fights are harder and he'd go down even higher in ATG ranks, but fighting a world champion in a division 25 pounds heavier is still daring to be great. Ward fighting a prime Wlad, Lewis, Vitali, Tyson, etc would be insane and daring to be great, but that doesn't make Ward fighting Usyk, Gassiev who are cruiser not daring to be great either.
Ehhh... The fights with Kovalev are far more significant to his legacy, even the Froch, Kessler and Abraham fights at SMW. Ask yourself who would be the favorite to win here? Ward of course. Universally. By the bookies, fans, pundits, fighters. I would think "daring to be great" should have to involve a fight where you're an underdog in, many counting you out etc. Ward just weighed his options and is going with the fight where he can realistically win but at the same time collect a solid(possibly career high) payday. Unifying with Stevenson would actually be greater for his LEGACY, but it's easy to see why Ward doesn't want to wait around for that one given Stevensons track record.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Bellew beat Ward. He doesn't get any tune up fights before cruiser right? We saw what happened in the first Kovalev a fight, a freaking jab stunned him badly. Now in the second fight it seems like he got used to the power more and this was his like 4th fight at LHW? This is an extremely dangerous fight. I truly believe going up 25 pounds to fight someone who is acclimated to a weight class is a more dangerous fight than a Froch, Kessler, or Abraham. Is Bellew better than these guys, **** no. But there are weight classes for a reason.
Yeah. We know. On a good day Bellew is B level fighter. Which makes up 98 percent of Golovkins resume. The difference being is that Ward will be going up 25+lbs and giving up 2-3 inches in height and reach. Whereas Golovkin was scared to go up 8lbs against pillowfisted Ward while giving up 1.5 in height and 1 inch in reach.
Opposition which was mentioned in comparison. What has a fight between a 175lb fighter and a heavyweight at cruiserweight got to do with a guy who fights at 160? Just wondering....it appears that you've already started drinking.
Its a classic fanboy case of holding one fighter to a certain standard while allowing another to fall under that standard and actually be praised more for it. Its what happens when insecure little boys like yourself cant stand to see a fighter, of a certain nationality or color, win
Is Loma a 20 year professional who beat 25 world champs on top of mulitple p4p raters and hall of fame and ATG raters? FMvs CMG has nothing to do with Loma vs Marringa.
The fact you've just listed FMJ's extensive credentials just proves my point with him fighting a guy who's never even had a professional fight..... McGregor is the poorest of poor opponents. Cheers for proving my point idiot.
Of course it still has something to do with him. You, and many others, are ok with him fighting kell brook and a now a guy with 0 wins at MW. But Ward, who has already owned 168 and 175 , wants to go up AGAIN and you guys are crying about the level of the guy hes interested in fighting at cruiser/heavy. LOL. If you cant see the connection Im making then you are even more sad than I originally thought. Actually you are that sad.
