Jurgen Braehmer signs according to Bild. Seems he is the "marquee name" previously mentioned.

    Hahahahahahaha.

The SMW tournament might turn out to be a joke with Groves the only belt holder and Top 5 fighter....and we're talking about SMW ffs

    Unfortunately so.

Seems it might be something like

    Groves
    Zeuge
    Korobov
    Yildirim
    Braehmer
    Skoglund
    Cox

If we're very lucky maybe one of Callum Smith, Eubank Jr, or Benavidez will make up the 8. Otherwise I expect Feigenbutz ...

They should just do the SMWs as the co-main to each of the cruiserweight bouts, all the way through :deal:

None of these guys are worthy of the word ' elite '. Maybe Groves

They made a mistake choosing SMW. They should have chosen LHW, with that money Beterbiev would sign up in a flash. Good chance of getting Gvozdyk, Bivol, Barrera, and perhaps even Kovalev as well. There are other solid fighters around to make up numbers, e.g. Cleverly, Chilemba, Salamov, Mikhalkin, Bute, Koelling, etc... all better than a drained Skoglund and Cox.

And Skoglund and Braehmer are LHWs anyway - wouldn't be worse than the SMW tourney

Yeah the politics at smw have made it so hard to get the best signed up and it's not a division with much depth anyway, so ok at lhw they wouldn't of got ward or kov in but they could of got some exciting undefeated fighters in there and it could of set up some even bigger fights down the line.

When you look at who they have signed up for smw it's just depressing, god I hope benavidez signs up that would at least spice it up a bit.

I hear you. I'm hoping for a 175 tournament if Andre moves up.

Brähmer wants to have noting to do with Cleverly. I still think he wasn't injured but just didn't want to be outclassed, eventually maybe knocked out.

SMW is a very, very weak and boring division.

They shouldn't have chosen SMW, but they could've done better, by focusing on getting a few North Americans. If they don't fill the field with at least two of Benevidez, Quillin, Anthony Dirrell, and Callum Smith this is just not that significant. With three wild cards, not ranked at 168, they've also now broken their rules. I wouldn't mind if they stated that this hasn't met their goal as a best on best tournament and cancelled it, focus on the cruisers and save money for next year.

Only good news is that this does not seem to be the blockbuster name they promised.
