Also, the headlocks were partly due to pacman dipping. The headclash was definitely accidental: both heads going forward. The guy was a brawler. Take away round 9 and he would have won easily. 117-112 really isn't crazy at all.
Rewatching the fight, there just aren't a lot of decisive rounds. Pac was having trouble putting his punches together. Getting his offense smothered by big brother tactics. It was fought in the trenches. Sucks people have to make the fight about the scorecards.
The first 4 rounds were decisive for Horn. I gave him 5 and 6 also. Obviously 9 was the really clear round, but I have absolutely no idea how anyone could score the fight for pacman under the rules. The other guy clearly won the fight. People talking about headbutts or clinching are also miles out: if the ref doesn't deduct a point (and he didn't even give a warning!), it's completely irrelevant.
I don't agree with that really. I thought Horn was much more in control in the second half of the fight, besides the 9th which was the only round where Pac put his punches together and busted Horn's face up as a result. I could easily see giving Horn 1, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12. Not like much separated them in a lot of the other rounds either. Besides 9.
I just watched the replay in HD with no volume. There is no way you could give Pacman any of the first 4. Literally, no way. He did nothing at all.
Uh, I also just rewatched the fight in HD without volume lol. You could easily give him 2 and 3. I gave Horn 1 and 4. Like I said, there are not very many decisive rounds in this fight.
Agree. It was actually a really good fight. I was entertained. Shame too, didn't realize til I read this how I haven't been able to post about the actual fight yet, beyond the scoring of the action. Horn was smart to take it to the inside where Pac doesn't fight well and had the balls and head movement through the first half of the fight to capitalize where nobody really saw coming, staying far from harms' reach.
See, I'm on the same page with a lot of people and still find disagreements. 1 is Horn, very clear. I thought 2 was clear to Horn. I scored 3 and 4 to Pac, both being much closer than 1 and 2.
No I had Horn winning 7-5. Horn dominated the first 6 rounds, landed the better punches and Pac only dominated 1 round which was the 9th I think. Pacquaio is done.
Umm, you really couldn't, unless you get rounds for doing and landing absolutely nothing, while the other man is the aggressor and lands 10-15 effective punches.
