Nigel Benn and Steve Collins Agree to Rematch

The biggest battle for both will be making good money off the fight. I wouldn't fancy promoting it anyway. No way it can sell significant PPV's. The idiots who buy the woeful PPV's won't know who they are.

I'll be surprised if it happens. When the sums are done I'd say neither will be bothered.

If it somehow goes ahead I'll tune in if I'm not busy. But I wouldn't pay a fiver to watch it. Surely the huge amount of ring rust will make this an embarrassing viewing.

 

Everyone remembers Steve Collins mate. He got a lot of talk show exposure. Not quite as big as Barry McGuigan though.

 

Most buying this will be 40+ year old, it'll get a lot of people talking in the street and pub.

I love 50/50 fights. I'd rather watch this then Connor vs Floyd

 

They need to re examine how much they want to make out of the fight. As a stand alone ppv its a waste of time for everyone. Get it on a eddie hearn ppv tho. I d much rather watch that than say someone against a latvian or katie taylor batter a burd from the local boozer.

Again tho their probably taking home a couple of hundred thousand each as opposed to millions. Pretty sure it would help to sell a half decent ppv fight say joshua v pulev. Hearn would probably make his money back and more on it.

 

a sanctioning body could theoretically introduce a seniors event, where the medicals are strict, and there are perhaps amateur rules and regs, mandating helmets, bigger gloves etc.

This has the potential to go very badly indeed, people will always find a way to do things no matter how ill advisable, if they really want to do them.

putting them in a safer environment might be one option.

 

They should be put in straight jackets and a padded room promoter as well, this is farcical.

 

Benn actually looks ridiculously good in recent training vids, for his age.

 

I think thats what its all about moreso than money for benn. In incredible shape for his age...one last hurrah to show hes still got it kind of thing. Agree with the guy a few comments above make a few changes for safety...maybe 8 x 2 minute rounds. Or something like that then get it on a joshua ppv. People will watch that i reckon. Just no sure theres enough interest as a stand alone ppv.

I d rather watch benn v collins fight than katie taylor on a joshua undercard tbf. Pretty sure a lot of other people would be the same as good as katie is.

People are talking like their a pair of cripples just waiting around to die. Its not like their fighting 25 year olds. No sure what conditions collins is in...but if its anything like benn. They ll be fine. Benns in incredible shape for his age. Probably fitter than half the folk on here slagging him off.

Their two very experienced ex pro,s i m pretty sure theres in a lot less danger than people imagine.

 

Hearns crappy under cards/women's boxing is one thing but a fight between two 53 years olds who have both been out of the ring for 20 odd years has no place in a BBbc licenced fight card.
