Side note, Horn is promoted by Duco and Dean Lonergan, not Top Rank, so Bob had zero interest in handed anything over to anyone.

Regardless if this was the case or not... Arum will be gunning hard for the rematch. He's going to continue milk Pac for as long as he possibly can.

    Corruption runs deep in boxing.

This is all about extending Pacquiao's career and extra paydays. Maybe not the biggest paydays, but tens of millions of dollars for fights like this is not to be sniffed at.

Lose the first fight, win the rematch, double your money then move on to the next.

Pacquiao is looking to go out on one last big payday, most likely against Crawford.

If Pacquiao fights Crawford now and loses (highly likely) then it's all over and he retires.

However, if, in the meantime Pacquiao can fight the likes of Horn two or even three times (don't rule it out) before he fights Crawford then it's millions of extra dollars in additional paydays and more time to develop Crawford's profile and build up the fight.

It's the same logic as the Bradley triology - one each, then the rubber match. If Pacquiao had won the first fight there would not have been a second or third. We're talking many millions of dollars in additional revenue.

It's how they used to do it in the old days. The champ would often lose the first fight and win the rematch. Double your money for the same fight. All fixed, of course.

There is a video on YouTube somewhere of Lamotta explaining this type of situation to the Corruption Commitee.

Ironically this thread is only two away right now from the one noting that Arum was the biggest loser of this fight.

I found that one more credible, makes alot more sense for him to try to get Manny to lose to Crawford than Horn.

Most of the outrage is from people who are Pacquiao (not boxing) fans and the folks who award a fight based off Compubox. I've watched it 3 times now, the first time I was busy at work so I don't count that one. The last 2 times I had Horn winning 7-5, and I'm a Pacquiao fan. It was very close imo, Pac winning 7-5 or a draw I could have excepted too. The judge that only scored 3 rounds to Pac though I think is also a big part of the reason for all this outrage.

Apparently the whole thing did great ratings through TV viewing and streaming, so despite the "controversy" this was a win for ESPN and Boxing imo. They need to figure something out before August in regards to Atlas and Stephen Smith though. They can't be having Smith shitting on the sport while sucking off the UFC every time something happens he doesn't understand or doesn't like the result of. An Teddy just sounded hammered, he needs to be replaced for RBR commentary.

How about this, he's trying to make lemonade out of what a lot of people think was a lemon, he knows the truth that Pac lost fair and square, and instead of feigning outrage and bitching and moaning he sees a money making opportunity for a rematch. So he's playing nice because he doesn't want to get Horn and Lonergan too pissed before rematch negotiations begin.
