    Agreed. He's not that good.

I don't rate Zeuge either but he would beat Skoglund and Cox.

I've unwatched this thread :( I support the wbss concept and want it to improve and succeed, but I just can't care much about the super middleweight field. I probably won't watch the first round fights, unless as KiwiMan suggested they're undercards to the cruiser fights. I'll just make a point to watch the semis and finals, after the fat's trimmed.

I'd be very happy with that, Groves, Smith and Eubank Jr are top 10 fighters and Korobov and Yildirim are solid contenders.

Would be a very good tournament, but with only 1 belt in it doesn't have the same importance as cruiserweight

I do agree Cruiserweight should take the lions share of the 50 mill, its only fair considering the class of the two fields

TBH the Super middleweight division isn't that poor and I don't think any division could compete with cruiserweight in regards to making this kind of tournament happen. Sure we have divisions just as deep, but cruiserweight having less economic value probably lead to the strength of this tournament.

Super middleweight has been hit by injury and politics (and poor selections), would be nice to see who actually applied. I doubt 154 would have been much better unless all the top fighters bought in.

Agreed, 154 would probably have been hit with the same problem.

At this point all I want is an interesting tournament which will crown "a" (not "the") top SMW. Let's hope Eubank Jr and Callum Smith sign up.

If Smith and Jr/Abraham get in as well as Yildrim and Zeuge the winner will be no 1 in the division for me but obviously ir will be disputable atm I have

    1) Ramirez
    2) Groves
    3) Degale

I think Groves did better against Jack regardless of the results and obviously beat Degale so that's why he's 2nd.

Ramirez has a solid and dominant resume that's why he's no1. I wouldn't argue the order too much tbf

Callum Smith is a very good fighter but some people seem to think he's already a world champion.
If he pulls out of the Dirrell fight to join the WBSS than Dirrell will still fight for the belt!!

The purse bid for that title fight was 1.6 mill or 800k each, no surprises Smith wants in on the WBSS, he wouldn't get that pay day at this point otherwise he doesn't have a name or record of note.

Maybe when they were talking about a blockbuster fighter they could have been talking about the sheer size of Smith?

Yes, agreed. But if Dirrell pulls out first, then Smith might be able to take the belt into the WBSS.

Dirrell won the purse bid, chose the venue and date, and now wants to move it again, which is against WBC rules.

    Odds:

    Groves 10/11
    Cox 6/1
    Skoglund 12/1

    More fighters to come obviously.

Braehmer dropping down to 168? Guess he wants no part of another shellacking off Cleverly

No way they would not go through with it, its still in the US so still home ground advantage.

Its wishful thinking that they would risk losing their title shot and pay day just for a change in venue, if Smith and Hearn think refusing to budge on the venue is going to allow them to take the belt to WBSS they're delusional.

They would have to pull out in the next few days too so Smith could sign up, the only way I see Smith going in is with Dirrell or without the title on the line and more likely he's not in it, especially since he supposedly turned down bigger coin to fight DeGale for the Dirrell fight.

Would be strange if they then pulled out of the Dirrell fight to join WBSS! WBSS had been on the cards for a while now too.

Yes, and one of those is almost certainly Yildirim. He's actually a good fighter (boxrec #10 for what it's worth), he'd be 2nd favourite of the names announced so far.

No idea how Cox is only 6/1. He should be 20/1 or so.
