People keep saying things like "his competition has been on par with Hopkins" and somehow want to equate that with Golovkin achieving the same level/status as Hopkins in boxing. It doesnt. Hopkins resume at 160 has been ripped here to defend GGG. And Id be willing to bet if Hopkins stopped fighting after his 160 days he wouldnt nearly be considered a legend and ATG. Stop thinking that equaling or beating Hopkins record at 160 equates to having the same status as Hopkins. It doesnt and it wont. Hopkins going up and facing top 168-175 guys even in his 50s is what makes him legendary.
And up at 175 outside of his victory over Tarver he lost most of the big fights, but being competitive into his late 40's is to be admired although it was no doubt helped with PED use.
well assuming they both get past there upcoming challenges. if this fight does happen i wont be complaining. what the ggg critics want him to do is move up. i say move up only if you want or if your struggling to make 160 move up. i dont see how there could be a big difference in money at 168. so the healthier weight / best weight for him he should fight at if that will always be 160 so be it. there is some challenges at 160 still imo. bjs and charlo are serious threats imo. if he decides to move up there are some good fighters but they might be involed in that tournament so it might best to stay at 160. but if hes moves up im sure ramirez will be available or eubank jr/abraham winner. if its eubank then thats a good fight. abe not so much
No if Golovkin Ko's Canelo he should go for the last belt @160 (WBO) which has Saunders at the moment
Plenty of options Unify the division Beat Jacobs legimately Conquer 168 or at least give it a go Charlo is too new to the division to be considered some one he ducked, if the fight don't happen its a timing thing
I'm not going to bother looking up your other posts to see what kind of self ownage you just did there. But you must be the boy in the plastic bubble if you don't read the hundreds and hundreds of posts on here by Charlo fans and GGG haters saying exactly what I have just repeated. I'm not sure what your problem is. My guess is that I've embarrassed you and you're lying. You almost might be twelve years old.
3 priorities fall ahead of Charlo. *WBO belt *Rematch Jacobs *Canelo can exercise a rematch clause Even if Charlo becomes mandatory the sanctioning body will not enfore it immediately.
I never said "retire as an ATG". I don't think Golovkin can do anything now at his age and this far down the line to be considered an ATG. So what's the point? Canelo will probably be his biggest fight, I can see anything on the horizon for Golovkin that would or could be bigger. Let's say he beats Canelo, stays active and beats Charlo and beats Jacobs in a rematch, the haters will still hate and he will not get much credit. Retire an undefeated unified world champion after your biggest fight, that's a great way to finish.
Saunders don't want to fight Golovkin, he will be chasing him forever. He beat Jacobs, it was close, I scored it very close, I won't deny that but Golovkin won the fight. Why go to 168 now? What's the point? Who is there? Groves? DeGale (who might well move up to 175) who?
No, he should fight Saunders for the only title left, then a rematch with El Pollo.....................let Charlo earn a title shot..................
I think the GGG of the last couple of years needs to stay away from Charlo. At any other point he would have dealt with him handily. Charlo like Lara is just terrible opposition for GGG's action style.
