Several years back when I first started posting here, I was still a Ward fan who would argue with folks on here forever that Ward wins this fight. Well now half a decade later and I can no longer stand the guy, however I still think he probably wins a foul filled affair. But what does ESB Boxing Forum 24 think? Who wins and how do you think the fight goes, does Calzaghe being the A-Side get the fight in the UK or does Ward get his way?

Andre Ward hasn't lost in 20 years but it obviously can't be because he's good at this - it must be because of the ref, his promoter or that he's fighting in the US. Anything but that he's a great fighter. Most of you can't even give him credit without throwing jabs about his style. Thankfully wins and losses speak for themselves.

Ward beats Calzaghe by decision. Competitive in parts but Ward wins

I don't know Calzaghe beat B-Hop, which is a better win than any of Ward's. I still say Ward by any means necessary, but I've watched a lot of Calzaghe's fights lately and he was no joke. I know I'd be rooting for the Welshman.

I have seen anyone dismantle Ward, no one can stop him.

Calzaghe wouldn't stop him either but he would win on points.

    ward.

hopkins fight gives some relevance against a 40something Ward, though calzaghe migth likely have been stopped in round 2 by hopkins if joe hadnt lowblowed hopkins to survive.

Part of being a great fighter according to Ward fans. Also Hopkins was one of the dirtiest fighters of the era spanning his career, so it wasn't nothing B-Hop wouldn't do himself without blinking a eye.

hopkins might but he's never been the same position of getting stopped by a 40something as joe...so to be perfectly fair, and if you are being fair too, we cannot say he would do it under the same circumstances at all...because it wouldnt happen to him. He doesnt have joes porous defence that allowed this to happen.

the salient point being calzaghe was going to get stopped in round 2 if he hadnt lowblowed him, which he readily admitted to.

Significantly, Calzaghe wasnt docked a point or warned for it.

This match up was proposed recently between ward kov 1 and 2.
For me, nothing changed. Calzaghe still trump ward in every departments. In 2 fights with Kov, I didn't see ward outskill kov, he does have a better physical and mental stamina. He won't have that advantage over the Welsh Dragon. Calzaghe by UD.

The same pool has just been conducted since a month ago. Prime Calzaghe beat Prime Ward convincingly.

    Calzaghe by decision

He was way to busy, threw too many punches, was fast enough but most of all switched his tactics throughout a fight to counter anything his opponents tried to do.

He'd confuse Ward and outwork him.

confuse ward? really? with his misses.

calzaghe wsnt big on tactics. I think you mean his southpaw stance confused inexperienced opposition. For some reason the non-sanctioned WBO of the 90s gave him a free pass to beat up on weaklings as their title defences for years -which is probably why they werent recognised at that time.
to his credit Joe did actually make one defence of a non-wbo title though - such a beating and a struggle against basic tv show boxer sakio bika, that he quit the ibf and ran back to the wbo for protection.
