I like Perez and he'll be an interesting match for anyone, but as I said including Wlodarczyk but not Glowacki isn't fair to Glowacki's accomplishments. Glowack's definitely a top 8 cruiser, in fact top 5 according to most rankings. They should've been more careful about accepting Wlod early, but with him in accepting anyone but Glowacki as the last spot just isn't right.

If you look at the original Super Six tournament, fighters pulled out sometimes after a loss. I guess down to motivational/confidence issues and not wanting to go into another 50/50 fight straight after a defeat.

    Also injuries.

I honestly don't conceive your point, this is entirely different compared to the Super Six, here after a loss you're automatically out of the tournament.

The single elimination format and the set schedule of only up to three bouts but over just nine months makes an injury or withdrawal much less likely than in the Super Six. A spare also would likely only be a substitute in the first round. If someone pulls out of the semifinals or final it would make more sense to sub a full entrant who lost the previous round (like a lucky loser who made it through qualifying in a tennis tournament). There should be a good 95% chance the spares won't be needed.

I didn't realise that, thought it was round robin.

Jeez this makes the draw super important

You're completely correct re Glowacki, but I don't mind too much as Glowacki already lost to Usyk pretty convincingly. Perez will be in interesting match-ups too.

Here's the Polish sites that report Perez is going to get in over Glowacki. Reading through translator, they say Perez is getting the nod basically because Eddie Hearn has pushed for a UK based fighter to get in.

I'm actually really upset for Glowacki. If I were him I'd be confident I beat everyone but Usyk, then keen to potentially rematch Usyk in the final. It's not about Perez not being qualified, it's more that Glowacki is clearly more deserving than Wlodarczyk. With Wlod already in, Perez over Glowacki is the wrong choice.

I think Perez could be more fun for us, but I do agree Glowacki is much more deserving.

So Hearn may be responsible for Perez and the absurdity that is Jamie Cox in the SMW series.

That Hearn guy sure has some mojo.

I totally agree with you of course. I'm just very pleased to see a great line-up regardless so won't complain too much about this. I do feel sorry for Glowacki though.
