You think skinny jeans Wilder could drop down to 200 and win the Muhammad Ali trophy?

    Oleksandr Usyk 5/6
    Mairis Briedis 5/1
    Murat Gassiev 5/1
    Yunier Dorticos 8/1
    Dmitry Kudryashov 12/1
    Marco Huck 20/1
    Krzysztof Wlodarczyk 25/1

Perez will probably come in at about 12/1. The value here is on whichever you fancy between Briedis and Gassiev IMHO.

That Hearn was able to convince the WBSS that they can't have two Polish boxers just shows that the WBSS is far from immune to promotional politics. That the WBSS lists star power as a criteria that may affect who the panel picks also suggests they aren't strictly going for the best eight in a division. After committing so much money to this they surely want a return on their investment. Which a hand in the UK market probably gives them a better chance for.

Yes, indeed. The WBSS is not perfect, but it is still a very positive development.

I think also the fact that the SMW line-up really needed Smith allowed Hearn to have a lot of power.

That's assuming Huck isn't a top three seed. Radupidu even thinks the matchups could be decided already, with the draft being only a ceremony, and Huck will have a favourable first round matchup. But assuming there's no such issues, it would be hard to see Usyk getting on stage and saying he's picking Wlodarczyk because he's 35 and hasn't fought a top cruiser in a few years.

I don't know if I missed the link you're referring to, but have you come across any info about the possible seed order?

The head of K2 said in the article that Briedis would fight Kudryashov (mandatory) and Gassiev Wlod (also Mando) leaving Usyk with the choice of Huck or Perez.

I'm guessing Usyk #1, Briedis/Gassiev #2/3 (doesn't matter as they will fight mandos and each other in QFs), Dorticos #4.

See, this is just stupid, and defeats the purpose of the seeds picking their opponents. If Usyk's number 1 seed he should be able to pick Kudryashov or Wlod, but the alphabets aren't letting him. Not only are some promoters having an unfair say in the tourney, the alphabets are too. Those matchups aren't bad, but with all the champs in the alphabets should obviously simply accept whatever the draw turns up as 'mandatory' defences. The gala event will be a joke if every match but Usyk's is essentially predetermined.

Richard Dwyer's breakdown of the strengths of the top guys in the tourney. He likes Briedis much more than Gassiev.

Funny how certain posters aren't bothering to post in this thread :D

I know I know... it's a joke tournament right? :) To busy posting in THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY threads about Mayweather v.s McGregor :wanker

Or making threads about hypothetical matchups between Usyk and your heroes from those 1990's good Ol' days huh? :D

"Bu.. Bu.. But Michael Moorer KO's Usyk doe!!"

They refuse to acknowledge this tournament due to Tabiti's exclusion.

Why do you feel Usyk will not win this? Just a hunch, insider info or somewhere in between?
