    I didn't think Usyk would get of cruiser unscathed.
    This tourney will see him fight the best of a pretty talent rich division.

    I think a lot of the hype surrounding Usyk was based on his brilliance in the WSB. But that was him dealing with a range of fighters who would be heavyweights in the pros.
    People got ahead of themselves a bit because he was always going to begin his career at cruiser, where the fighters though physically smaller are faster, more mobile and have a range of stylistic challenges.

    I honestly don't know how this tourney will go however. Even after we find out the matchups. And if you ask me who I'd pick to beat him and why I wouldn't be able to give you a confident answer.
    I really want to see how the first round of fights goes and then see who he faces in the semis..thats if he gets past his first fight that is.
    Just going off the feels in my waters I think Breidis should start a firm no2 if not favorite given who he has beaten and how he has beaten them. Though at a push I'd pick Usyk to beat him, Id pick Breidis to beat Gassiev but weirdly I'd give Gassiev a slightly better chance of beating Usyk.

    And i haven't forgotten about Doritcos either. Who might be even better value at those odds.

    LOL Dwyer calls Usyk "Oxander"! You would think a lawyer could read.

    Glowacki should be in representing Poland ahead of Diablo. Boxing is a 'what have you done for me lately' zone, not a place for lifetime achievement considerations.

    I agree that Glowacki should be in instead of Wlodarczyk who has struggled with mediocre opposition since losing his WBC title in 2014. I watched his last fight and he may have been little fortunate to get the decision against Noel Gevor, he was a good former champion but his time has past even Steve Cunningham would have been more dangerous and deserving. Glowacki is definitely the unluckiest to miss out especially when somehow Marco Huck is in coming of a loss to Briedis and couple fights before that his KO loss to Glowacki.

    It'd be awesome if they could hold one of these for every weight class.

    Indeed. Problem is that Wlod is Gassiev's mandatory, so he had to be included.

    Absolutely ******ed. Glowacki is a former Champion who knocked out Huck and beat Cunningham yet Huck coming off two losses in his last three including by KO at Glowacki's hands, Wlod whose done nothing in years, and Perez who is a nobody in the division and was last seen suffering an embarrassing destruction at the hands of Povetkin are all in the tourney? Utter garbage.

    Not defending the choice at all, but here's why:

    Huck -> star power
    Wlod -> mandatory to Gassiev
    Perez -> Eddie Hearn :lol:

    He looked pretty vulnerable against Michael Hunter.

    He took a bit long to grasp control of that fight.
    I didnt think Hunter would do that well or be that durable. I guess we will see how the rest of Hunter's career pans out.
    Ultimately Usyk won that fight clearly and beat Hunter up later on.
