Saunders is not an attractive man. We already got the two handsomest boxers in the world in the ring in GGG-Lemieux, and Canelo in there with GGG will be looking fine too.
The reason he looked totally ****ed was because he had never been in the ring with someone as shar, as fast, or as complete as Miguel Cotto. Its not like Daniel Geale uses his size to beat his opponents. Even two pounds heavier Geale loses to Miguel Cotto. Just different levels of skill and accomplishments.
Lemieux is one dimensional, and any fighter with a jab, and with good timing will beat him. He is todays version of Arturo Gatti, possibly a lesser fighter than Gatti imo. Lemieux only has a a punchers chance against a skilled and refined fighter like Cotto. Cotto has fought and beat punchers many times over, and has fought and beat much better skilled fighters than Lemieux. Lemieux has never beat anyone remotely close to Cotto, and in fact has been KO by a JrMW in Rubio.
uhh..OK. He still todays Arturo Gatti. I'm a Lemieux fan, I've been watching him fight longer than most members here have followed boxing, but just because I'm a fan, I'm not going to pretend he's something he's not. Lemieux is one of those fighters who barely makes it to world level. He has some extraordinary gifts, but his skillset is one dimensional.
Lemieux is by no mean skillless. He is pretty crafted in fact. Lemieux has t-rex arms. Yes he punches hard, his hands are pretty fast, but he is more than a puncher. Due to his lack of arms length, he needs to fight inside and it takes, in my opinion, more skills to fight inside than to hit and run behind the jab. Somehow, the ones who do are considered "skilled" while the guy who is less athletic and has to get close is considered "raw", while to me the first type build on his athletism, when the second needs to learn how to spoil the fight or the other guy's strength. I am not saying Lemieux is the most skilled guy, but he is pretty skilled considering he has to get inside and therefore being at range from the other guy.
Lemieux isn't an inside fighter. He uses a lot of momentum to deliver his punches, and starts at mid range when throwing most of his punches.
Yet you still had the nerves to claim Beefy who you'd never seen fight before was better than him? İnteresting. And btw, Arturo Gatti at MW size with a massive left hook would be a very live dog against this shopworn, inactive Cotto at full MW.
I could see Lemieux walking Cotto down. I think it would be as close fight though if Cotto still has any left in him.
