I don't think so. People are fed up with garbage PPV fights. Look at what happened with Ward-Kovalev 2. Despite the first fight being decent, the rematch did considerably lower. Ever since Pac-May, how many fights have broken 1 millon American PPVs? Canelo-Chavez.. Who else?
Seriously? You were telling another poster who is a fan of Migrant Canelo that he doesn't like when Migrants succeed. GTFO! One more ******ed post and I'm putting you on ignore.
My wish for GGG-Canelo is that it is a fair fight with no corrupt officiating & the best man on the night rightfully & legitimately gets the win. OK I know that's probably a pipe dream after the Pacquaio & Kovalev controversies but I can dream. We really are due fair fight with no controversy and corruption
Well, that's good to hear. Hopefully with the negative feedback which is costing them money the whole circus act routine might finally be discarded as financially unfeasible. BTW Can't blame us for getting the impression that boxing has started to resemble professional wrestling. I don't know exactly when this began. I do know that Ali said he got his idea for theatrics while watching a wrestler called Nature Boy. But that was restricted to Ali and didn't seem to permeate the entire industry. In contrast this display is something entirely different since it seems to include collusion among boxers and promoters. For example, in the Canelo fight JCC get's beaten in a totally unexpected one-sided way and at the end in parades Triple G alongside a smiling and smirking Dela Hoya accompanied by entrance ceremonies which were obviously previously prepared. Such displays smack of showmanship and naturally raise suspicions concerning the authenticity of the matches themselves. So if they are indeed starting to get negative feedback it is definitely well-deserved.
Negative. Golovkin didn't come close to selling OUT MSG. The live gate took only $3m compared to Canelos $7m live gate vs Khan. And the Madison Square Garden had more seats at a cheaper cost. GGG simply isnt a draw . Canelo is the cash cow. Thats why GGG wasted his whole career waiting for his Canelo pay day This content is protected
All sold out. GGG can't sell tickets and is a PPV FLOP. Canelos PPV vs LARA did more than all GGGS PPVs COMBINED
Im glad this fight is sold out. Im glad people are excited. Because Im a boxing fan first and foremost. And I think Golovkin is very good. But lets be truthful. Liam Smith PPV sold what both of Golovkins PPVs did. And no one wanted to see Canelo/Smith. To me its a shame when this fight sells out and a fight like Ward/Kovalev cant sell more than 6k tickets. To me GGG/Canelo ticket sales, and success in general, will be a product of HBO and ESPN constantly putting pressure on Canelo to gravitate towards fighting Golovkin. If Andre Ward had the following of Canelo. And had a Floyd fight. You can bet they would have been pressuring Golovkin to fight Ward at 168. The networks and the media need big fights. They have been setting this up for about 2 years now. HBO desperately needs something big. They need a new hero or king. Lets put it this way. Ward/Golovkin last year at 168 was a totally feasible fight to make. It would have been a good one. But there is a reason that nobody in the media put any pressure on Golovkin, with still a very thin resume, to do so. As Ward said "if you flip flopped us...gave me his resume and I tried to back away from a fight. They would have crucified me". Its a harsh truth. GGG has a nice little fanbase. Hes a very good fighter. But people(I use this term loosely as I think people that insist that he is are cretins) need to stop acting like hes some huge superstar. Hes still a level or two below Canelo in that regard.
Took longer to sell out than I thought. But that's just me comparing him to the PPV darling that is Anthony Joshua
