My memories appalling, I just did a goggle. I forgot it was his win over Kessler that made him a front runner.

Who's the potential Andre Ward in this ? Jamie Cox hahaha?

Looks like you're being proved right. We've heard the wbss will likely cave to alphabet requests that two of the first round bouts be their mandatories. Thus rigging three of the four matchups, and making the draft draw a sham.

After what happened yesterday I'm actually more disappointed in the cruiserweight tourney than the super middle, because my expectations with this was higher and the chance to get it right was there. Denying Glowacki entry while accepting Perez and moreso Wlodarczyk is a travesty. It's promoters and alphabets who rule this tourney, not the other way around with promoters accepting cooperation and the authority of the tournament rules. Yeah getting 6 of the top 8 cruiserweights is going to make this great, but let's not tell ourselves it's better than it is: it could've been a properly structured best on best, but it's not.

Correct. Ward and Dirrell were seen universally by fans and pundits as good prospects but too green to hang.

Seeds are out, the seeded fighters will choose tomorrow who they want to fight in the first round from the unseeded fighters staring off with 1st seed Oleksandr Usyk

    Seeded pool:
    1. Oleksandr Usyk
    2. Murat Gassiev
    3. Maris Bredis
    4. Yunier Dorticos

    Unseeded pool:
    Mike Perez
    Marco Huck
    Wlodarczyk
    Kudryashov

    I'm going with:
    Usyk vs Huck
    Gassiev vs Wlodarczyk
    Bredis vs Perez
    Dorticos vs Kydryashov

Mine was a prediction post, something yours is sadly lacking.

I'm just hoping the seeds don't go along with the mandatories they're supposed to 'choose'. If Usyk picks Huck or Perez I'll stop watching because we'll already know the rest of the matchups. Briedis supposedly mandated to fight Kudryashov, and Gassiev Wlodarczyk. Dorticos would then simply get the one of two left by Usyk.

As mentioned on the smw thread, they're going with 1 and 3 in one half of the draw, and 2 and 4 in the other half. They should've stuck with the traditional format of 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3, I don't get the logic. They give number 2 a theoretically easier road to the final than number 1. And this means the expected most even matchup of Briedis-Gassiev won't be a semi final, and my predicted final of Usyk-Briedis isn't possible.

Either way the quality of field means for exciting match ups.

You will juat get Usyk vs Briedis earlier, and you wouldn't have had it anyway cos Gassiev is going all the way.

Lucky for Gassiev that he won't have to face Usyk until the finals. Although, Dorticos will be far from an easy semi-final.

Yeah the cruisers are good enough that it'll still turn up great fights and a worthy final.

Apparently your fave fighter in each tournament is the guy I think is relatively limited and could well crash out early . I'm really feeling Dwyer's analysis and think Gassiev's slower feet and less adept use of range makes a lot of guys dificult for him. He gets lucky and avoids Usyk and Briedis, but yes Dorticos will be tough for him too, and even Huck.

Limited is a strange word to describe Jr, he's one of the most well rounded fighters in the world. You could argue he's not great at one particular thing,(which I disagree with) but he's not limited.

Gassiev I agree, he's more one dimensional but he is a bad man and will take a lot of stopping.

Both will bring it no doubt imo

By relatively limited, I mean their weaknesses compared to the strengths of their possible tourney opponents. Gassiev I sure still love, I just favour Usyk and Briedis over him. And it's more because of the unreal footspeed of Usyk and Briedis for cruiserweights. So many of the cruisers are great but match up slightly differently against different opponents. The matchups will be key to going all the way.
