How does giving the Eubank/Abraham winner the number 3 seed and third pick make sense? If Cox and Skoglund are taken, how does an undetermined participant stand on stage and select one of the remaining two as his opponent?

Seeds are out, the seeded fighters will choose tomorrow who they want to fight in the first round from the unseeded fighters staring off with 1st seed George Groves

    Seeded pool:
    1. George Groves
    2. Callum Smith
    3. Eubank/Abraham winner
    4. Jurgen Braehmer

    Unseeded pool:
    Anvi Yildrim
    Rob Brant
    Jamie Cox
    Erik Skoglund

    I'm going with:

    Groves vs Cox
    Smith vs Skogland
    Eubank vs Brant
    Braehmer vs Yildrim

Is Eubank or Abraham in Monaco? Surely someone has to be there to select their opponent from the two boxers who'll be left after the first two selections.

And how is Braehmer ranked above an actual super middleweight in Yildirim?

    Semi final format

    1 vs 3
    2 vs 4

So if they keep winning it will be Groves vs Eubank in the semi
Great for Eubank he's 2 fights from a world title fight!

Groves is an easier match up than Smith or even Yildirim IMO

being 3rd seed is no worse than being 2nd even though I think Eubank/Abraham have achieved more to earn 2 spot (not much between Skoglund and Brant)

Looks like Usyk vs Briedis semi in cruisers, great for my boy Gassiev too

They should've stuck with the traditional format of 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3, I don't get the logic. They give number 2 a theoretically easier road to the final than number 1.

It is unusual but it's not a bad thing looking at the match ups it creates, you couldn't go wrong either way.

My theory is it was a Eubank power play and thats how they signed for the tournament. Why go through Smith to get to Groves, when you can go straight to Groves!!!

Without a regular season determing seeds, I agree the matchup format isn't a significant problem.

Eubank wanting Groves soon might be part of it. I also think Hearn is happy that Smith has an easier path to the final. I definitely disagree with your assessment of Eubank, and think Groves handily outboxes him and possibly beats him up.

Jr's chance to change a lot of opinions.

Groves has shown huge weaknesses in the past and much of that plays in to Jr's strengths.

Do you rate Groves that highly or Jr that lowly?

I find it ironic when people call Jr a hype job.

Most comments I see people think he's British level, how can he be a hype job if he was never rated in the 1st place?

I don't rate Eubank highly. He's not an especially skilled outside boxer, easily allows opponents to come in and disrupt him. And offensively he's also average and hittable. He doesn't setup an attack. He ultimately seems to me the kind of guy who just 'throws punches'. Groves on the other hand is faster, smarter, and more deliberate. And more proven at a higher level, his power especially. He looked really good his last fight, really sharp, and moved and countered well.

I confess I haven't seen Eubank's last few fights, because I'm not really interested in him. I'll try to check him out a bit before the Abraham fight, I think you said he's improved.

Not apparently great at anything is yes definitely how I'd describe Eubank. But I mean not even very good at anything.

And of course the attention that his dad gives him, and that the British boxing media gives them both an outlet to talk despite Eubank not yet proving himself is what turns a lot of us off.

Eubank Sr is picking the QF opponent, regardless of who wins. If AA beats Eubank Jr he still gets the opponent Sr chose.

I predicted Braehmer would get the 4th seed, the WBSS seem to like past champions.

Not sure how the QF draw will pan out, only Yildirim will fight either Braehmer or Smith.
