I think that he got away with it because the pubic didn't take it as a racial slur but only as a personal opinion of Frazier himself. I don't believe he was ever criticised for it to be honest. Ali was seen as a joker and he got away with a lot of stuff really. Because of who he was. But I believe if Joe had been the same he'd have been ripped to pieces. Like I said, I'm a Ali fan but not of his behaviour at times.

Definitely not Ken. That's how it was perceived at the time. Oh its only Ali having a laugh, sort of thing. But as tough a guy as Joe was it cut him up when it affected his family.
Ali had a heart of gold deep down and I'm sure he was only acting up when giving Frazier abuse, he got carried away a little but I don't think he meant to hurt Frazier. Ali respected Joe like crazy that I assure you.
Thanks for the assurance but the fact that Joe, to his dying day, never forgave Ali for the way he tried to use race to turn people against him, shows that he felt the complete opposite of what you are saying about Ali.
