Just looked at the records of Cox, Yildrim and Brant, goddamn
Groves-Eubank in the semi finals should be a very nice fight.

There's more to boxing than records dude like I said in the Josh Taylor thread, otherwise no one would have picked Spence to beat Brook =)

Cox is highly rated in the UK and was likely to fight Eubank this summer regardless of whether this tournament happened. Yildrim completely beat up DeGale in sparring 2 weeks before the Jack fight and knocked his teeth out. Brant was Jacobs sparring partner for the GGG fight and apparently it was very even. He's also part of the same team as Charlo/Spence so holds good company there.

Actually I picked Spence over Brook, many people did.
It's not just the records but who they faced, I don't recognize a single fighter from Brant's or Cox's resume. In fact half of Cox's opponents have a losing record, how can he be highly rated if we don't know how good he is?

I recognize 2 people from Yildrim's resume: Pryor and Periban and that's it.
There's a reason why Groves and Eubank Sr picked those guys, easy 1st round wins. Are you predicting any upsets?

Again, just because they haven't fought names you recognise doesn't mean they are not good. You can tell from watching them and their attributes, otherwise how would you have known that Spence was going to beat Brook...

Tonight when watching Josh Taylor he displayed world class attributes, and I rated OD very highly before the fight tonight and wanted him to win but alas he was outclassed.

Yildrim is my dark horse for the tournament, I could be totally wrong of course but I think Eubank is in for a surprise - if he even goes through with the fight because I'm surprised he's even entered this tournament because he likes everything his own way and on the Eubanks terms.

Cox is rated in the UK but personally I don't rate him, he kind of struggles unless the guy stands right in front of him. I don't believe he will turn out to be anywhere near as good as Hearn initially thought although I think he may go the distance with Groves as he is durable, but then again Chudinov was very durable and look what happened there.

I don't think there any mismatches in the tournament except maybe Groves/Cox, put it that way.

I think Brant and Yildirim have a decent chance of pulling of the upset, especially the former.

Cool story but it makes you look dishonest or maybe poorly informed

Cox was fighting Fielding, he wasn't even on Jr's radar

I actually can't think of a good reason to pick Yildirim over Brant.

Even if Yildirim is similar to Abraham in a lot of ways. Brant is better prep for Groves the likely semi final opponent. Brant is a much easier opponent too. I know he fought at 178lbs as an amateur but he was fat, it wasn't his natural weight class, he had a lot of success @ 178 too but imo that was down to 2 things.

A- US amateur system is weak
B- He has a style suited to amateur point scoring ie punches landed

He got cleaned up in WSB because he was featherfisted and couldn't stop big boys walking him down, he also couldn't fight hard for 5 rounds.

@ 168 I think he still can't punch and he's not even quick.

Yildirim is a tank and has size and strength that is nearly unmatched at 168, if he was heavy handed he'd be even harder to beat. He's quite crude and he struggles to catch a moving target, he needs to keep on top of his opponent ti get punches off too. He does have a good jab though but he just uses it to soften up his opponent, its not a defensive weapon and it isn't really used to set up too much of an attack. He does have a good dig to the body.

I think Jr beats both of them and im stoked he picked the harder opponent in a way and that's to silence some of the critics and will make his run even better.

Actually I thought of 1 good reason to pick Yildirim!

I imagine Jr and Abraham are having a tear up but Abe is falling behind, @ 37yo and having such a great career are you going to be wanting to dig as deep knowing you are going to have to do it again against a bad mofo like Yildirim next? Might just make Jr's night a bit easier haha

These ones lack the quality of the cruiserweights. Let's see how the series will unfold. If successful, it will force top fighters to join in the next installment.

Yildrim got a result in Mexico against Periban (Degale TKO victim) who he systematically beat up over 12 rounds, however Periban was getting some success fighting off the back foot. I don't see Jr having issues here.

Abraham would struggle but be delighted to pick up a million pound paycheck for turning up.

but seen as he had no representation at the 'Gala' the Jr v Abraham result must already be predetermined.

Correct, Hearn made the offer of paying Cox himself so basically fighting Jr for free.

Yildrim suits Eubank's style better that's why he picked him,Eubank Sr said it himself.

Yildirim looked like he wanted to knock Senior out where he stood
