I dont care about what you think. Those fights wouldnt be called to be dirtier than any other fight if not for all those deluded fanboys. I've seen way dirtier fights than that going under the radar. Lewis and barrera were dirtier, by far, and they are remembered as a bit dirty, but not blantantly dirty. Fanboys and nuthuggers everywhere in this sport.
Wlad vs Povetkin was terrible. Klit should have been DQ'd. I've never seen such horrible holding in a fight. If the ref would have been fair, he may have knocked Wlad on his ass.
Why even start a poll here. All it will do is ignite the cry baby fanatics. Ward Kov was dirty? Lmao... Keep crying.
Lazarte definitely should have been DQ'd. His fouls were extreme and blatant. He was banned from boxing for a couple years after this disgrace. He seems like a real piece of ****. This content is protected http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...-lazarte-banned-ibf-threat-sparking-ring-riot
Maidana Floyd wasn't dirty either. There is a difference between rough house tactics and fighting dirty. Pac Horn was a bit dirty but acceptable. In recent years the most public fight that I saw where a fighter fought dirty was Agbeko/Mares.
Yeah, Mayweather-Maidana 1 was certainly beyond the other two listed. Ward-Kovalev 2 just had a very disappointing ending, the slow-motion showed that the last punch was definitely low. But the fight as a whole wasn't especially dirty. Ward had some other low blows, Kovalev landed some rabbit punches, it wasn't a foul-fest like Ward's fight with Roy Ashworth early in his career, or Derrick Gainer-Freddie Norwood, James Toney-Ernest Mateen, Daiki Kameda-Daisuke Naito, etc... One nut-cracking performance in the past few years I just rewatched was Brandon Rios against Anthony Peterson. Peterson landed some absolutely brutal low blows. This content is protected Luis Lazarte is still the worst of all mentioned here. It's like he went through the list of all the dirty tactics and tried to use every single one of them, including "start riot".
That ref is equally to blame for permitting the bout to continue. Maybe he wanted that Mexican boxer to get seriously injured.
I recently watched Lazarte-Solis 1 in full. If a performance is even in the same zip code in dirtiness as Freddie Norwood against Derrick Gainer, then it's really bad. As I've said earlier, this was worse. Butthurt and/or ignorant people will bring up fights that aren't even that bad in terms of fouls. Not only did Lazarte put on one of the dirtiest performances ever, but it was also a terrible decision. Solis won by a wide margin. It's not that he did an awful lot, it's just that Lazarte did basically nothing of note that was legal. The majority of the fight was Solis coming forward behind his jab, while Lazarte was mostly on the retreat, and then would spring out of nowhere with wild attacks in which the only things that landed were rabbit punches or low blows. Then when one Solis punch strayed low, he cried to the ref. A couple of years later, Lazarte put on a similar performance that was supposed to get him banned for life. But he has still fought. Because of these two fights, he's probably my least favorite active boxers in recent years. He hasn't fought in two years, but I hope to see him come back and then take a Pacquiao-Hatton style nap on the canvas.
When Klitschko met with a smaller opponent in the ring the wrestling was his main tactic, especially if his opponent couldn't run from Klitschko.
