Jason easton vs steve jamoye a very good fight

Easton had his hands full, with the neverending pressure and toughness and gameness of jamoye he had a great chin. But easton has good power and took his time, to break him down, a very good win. it was a great fight on the undercard of taylor vs davies.

 

I thought he was terrible...sorry to be negative but he was blocking punches with his face all fight. He was moving round the ring but he wasn't moving his head at all and was a very easy target. He clearly didn't respect Jamoye's (lack of) power but the accumulation of punches made Easton look proper bashed up. A fighter with more power would have stopped him.

 

i agree and I manage him but he will learn so much from last night, bear in mind it was only his 10 th fight and Jamoye 27th with only 3 losses against good kids

 

Sorry to be so negative about your fighter, Billy. Fair play to him for taking that fella in only his tenth fight. He does throw some quality hurtful shots and it was clear that he was a few levels above him, just please tell him move his head haha.

do you think you maybe need to hold jason back a bit going forward and getting him some fights against the likes of lewis benson and targeting the british title afterwards?

 

Are you fishing boxingcrazy lol, mate he's just beat Belguim's No1 beat Hungary's No1 and with respect you want him to fight Lewis, please how is that in anyway going forward

 

i never said that was going forward billy and I'm certainly not fishing, i just feel that last night showed that jason was maybe being matched a bit too quick and imo there is unfinished business between lewis and jason. I'm sure you will agree that lewis was given a few very dubious decisions against jason in the amateurs and I'm sure that jason would like to beat him in the pro's to show everyone that was the case. maybe in an eliminator for the british would make it worthwhile

Jason won on stoppage so why do you think he is being matched a bit too quick, too many managers are matching their prospects in knockover jobs, it was good to see Jason in with a live come to win opponent and not a Johnny foreigner whose happy to turn up and ship a bit of punishment then go home with a big pay cheque, it happens a lot in Matchroom & Warren shows

 

yes jason got the win last night but jamoye was hitting him with relative ease and probably more than jason has been hit in all of his previous fights. it was a great win and although i don't want him being put in with knock over jobs but i don't want him being stepped up too quick and he gets exposed. jason's defence was very open last night and if jamoye had hit a bit harder then he might have not been undefeated

I've known jason since he was a kid and i enjoy his style, range of punches and he is seriously tough but if he doesn't get the right fights next then he might come unstuck, i think jason can win the british and i'd like to see him against domestic fighters going forward i.e. lewis benson or willie limmond in all scottish clashes, curtis woodhouse, joe hughes or even lenny daws all of these fights would give jason much needed experience before going for titles like the british etc

Id very much agree with Boxing Crazy, young talented lad no rush, get the head moving over a couple of slightly easier fights then back to step up's. For his long term health as well as his career, great win on paper but took a lot of shots last night

 

jason has been active and took challenge, whereas Lewis has had an injury and been inactive, I don't see the fight happening now to be honest

 

In fairness to Jason I think he's stopped his last four opponents, but as I said and agree wth boxingcrazy he needs to work on his defence

 

This was a fantastic fight from a fans point of view but from a trainer/managers point of view it must have been murder. Easton showed terrific engine produced a lot of good work offensively but as previously mentioned defence was poor. Thought he got a lot of success to the body but never targeted enough and when he had his opponent on the ropes never throw enough variety in his punches. Think it could be key fight of his career as potentially such a great learning fight, but only if he takes it all on board and analysis it correctly. I would keep him in and around this level for next couple of fights. Either way next time there's a tv date is Scotland I have no doubt he won himself a slot on the bill.

 

Congrats to Jason Easton, he did really well. Not every fighter is a Golden Boy in every single fight. The fighters and their coaches, in this case Billy Nelson, should always look to improve and most importantly stay in the game and look to move forward.

What Billy Nelson has been saying is 100% correct. Their is always room room for improvement and hopefully Nelson and Easton will have a successful future.

Also, a huge well done to Josh Taylor and his team, especially Barry McGuigan. They were spot on with the tactics in the Ohara Davies fight and it is what won them the fight.

Josh Taylor will most certainly go on to become a world champion and a major force at 140 and 147 in the future. I wish everyone success.

 

I know Josh Taylor will get all the plaudits for his excellent performance but I think Easton/Jamoye was the best fight over the weekend from any of the cards that were on.

I was impressed with Easton, yes he got hit and at times his defence looked a little leaky but it looked like something he could easily correct but what impressed me most was his composure for a young man in his 10th professional fight, he never looked stressed or rattled when he was under pressure.

As you said, I'm sure Easton will learn a lot from that experience and I must add a tip of my hat to Jamoye, he played his part in a very entertaining fight, was very game, came to fight and gave it a real go.

We all want to watch boxing and be entertained and Easton definitely entertained and I will make sure I keep an eye out for his next fight.
