hi, I'm turning 18 in a few days and have been paid to fight in storage closets for almost 2 years now, I'm trying to make the transition to organized boxing because it's really taking a lot out of me. I really want positive and negative criticism so I can keep doing what I'm doing right in boxing and the old habits I've developed I can get rid of, the videos are below in links.

You can't really gauge if a fighter is ready off of bagwork alone. I'm not an "Experience Boxer" as in I haven't had any fights but I trained for a while with amateurs and pros alike and know how to tell if you are ready to even fight in local amateur fights.

From what you have provided I would say no, you aren't ready. Your stamina doesn't look too good and when you throw punches, you leave your arm extended as if you are admiring your work.

You're young like me. Get into a gym and start training and sparring. Get good and then start getting amateur fights. Its a lot of work and very little reward unless you are at the top.

Btw what do you mean by "been paid to fight in storage closets for almost 2 years now"? Do you just meet up with random buddies and fight in a 4x4x10 storage closet where the janitor keeps his mops?

No, it was in like a concrete utility closet near the big ac/electric units, my parents wouldn't let me box and so it's the only place I could find, and thank you.

Do you see Any positives, or potential?

You have some good raw punching ability.
There are big things to correct like your pace, form, rhythm, and technique.
You need to find a real boxing gym and start going.
You need to be in that environment.

Thank you. But When you say raw punching ability what do you mean, and thanks I saved up for a car so I can get to a boxing gym in Baltimore. I like fighting and have been told before I have heavy hands but as I've read a lot the Greats and even just placeholder champions had problems with confidence, i need to hear wether or not I have the potential to compete in boxing I'm not asking for a confidence boost just the raw truth

Of course you have potential man. Just get into a gym and study fighters online to get a leg up. You look like you have the strength part down, try focusing more on speed. Speed (of both foot and hand) is more important than strength in boxing.

So you got paid? What kind of fights were these? Sounds interesting.

Yea 50 for loss 200$ to win, it fell apart when the organizers dad got killed (seperate issue involving the same people) but it just was not boxing, at one point I trained for boxing but dropped it after I realized fighting a bigger guy in a smaller space without protection isn't boxing. recently I met up with an old friend who was golden gloves and he basically went through bad habit after bad habit that I was doing and it sorta made me question if I should be even trying this ****

You sound like a real Jack Dempsey!

Don't give up. It's easy to develop habits if you don't learn in a gym. Get in there and they'll straighten you out man. Check out my thread on your first sparring, you might be able to pick up some advice that you don't already know.

Dempsey's book called "Championship Fighting: Explosive Punching and Aggressive Defense" is a very good read. If you look a couple pages back, I linked it in a thread called "Here's a gem for beginners" or something like that.

You need a coach. Organized fighting isn't something to play with and you have a ton of openings that an experienced fighter or coach will be able to see and say 'Hey, get him to throw that combination and counter with A-B next round' then you get setup with a trap and your lights knocked out.
You can get killed doing this.

You seem interested enough to take it serious so best bet is to get professional help.
