    Interesting subject.
    The German boxing boom was actually a product of the culture during the Weimar republic.
    Boxing's popularity soared in the 1920s and it was clearly something of that period that Hitler approved of and kept alive during the Nazi period (for the militaristic/ideological reasons well stated in the video).

    Germany actually continued to produce a decent amount of fairly good heavyweight boxers after the war and up to the 1960s.

    Greetings Unforgiven! Too busy to research but, in looking on BoxRec at Marcel Cerdan's career, he 'appeared' to be fighting in the early-mid 40's during the Nazi occupation?? Would appreciate your feedback.
