This is almost the same reaction with the Golovkin vs Jacobs fight. I have seen peoples round by round commentary on that fight and I swear they were talking about completely different fights. People seem to refuse to see their own bias I guess. I thought the fight was close.

If you think it's a close fight, and one referee clearly favours the style of Horn, 117 might not be so strange.
I'd think it would've been worse if that judge gave every second round when in doubt. Especially as, as I understand, the judges should give one fighter the round (10-9).

Both of them though Pac won on a very close fight or maybe a draw but had no problem with Horn 115 to 113.

You do? Only 2 out of 9 in that sample is 115 to 113...if you count Doug Fisher's alternative scoring.

Such is the nature of boxing. Once more controversy occurs when the cards of the official judges conflicts with the majority of the collective media and fans. Never once in the history of the sport has the majority laid down and said, "the official judges just know better than us."

Given they had to put up with the one-sided & biased ESPN coverage, I'd say those are very reasonable views.

That's why they have gravitas and many of their colleagues in the American boxing media do not.

7-5 Horn was the correct score, Teddy Atlas couldn't admit he was wrong and it clouded his judgement when commentating, which in turn influenced many casuals. This caused controversy out of nothing, the scoring was fair.

I am sure you have been on the other side of a controversy where you felt the fighter won the decision but everyone else felt that he did not. I was rooting for Kovalev over ward in that fight. I was also rooting for GGG over Jacobs. In my mind I am a hypocrite if I accept GGG over Jacobs and not Ward over Kovalev.

I should of said half the scores you provided had Pac winning 7 rounds. That whole 10-8 round thing is kind of funny because if Teddy Atlas never suggested that it should have been an 10-8 round I wonder if anybody else would have even suggested it. 4 out of the 5 new WBO scores even gave Pac a 10-8 round.

    Why?

73% of the press row had Kovalev winning that fight. 25% had Ward. The majority had Kovalev ahead by a margin of 3 plus points. The polls I seen here and the Scene both favored Kovalev by a 75% percent margin as well.

50% of the press had Golovkin winning that fight. 38% had Jacobs. The rest had it a draw. It was a tightly scored fight either way.

The difference is apparent. One fight was widely considered to be a clear Kovalev points victory, the other was considered to be a very close fight with a majority feeling Golovkin edged it. The Golovkin/Jacobs cards are in line with how most people scored the fight, hence little controversy over the decision.

You also have to just plain consider your own opinion, if you feel Kovalev and Golovkin won both fights that's how you see it.

    Regarding Horn/Pacquiao

    Press saw it as:

82% for Pacquiao. A few noteworthies like Bernstein saying, they could see it as a draw but scored it for Pacman. If you felt Horn won you are going to have to accept you are in the minority of this one.

Again, the weird argument that the overwhelming majority of boxing media and fans in both American and UK are casuals that were mind controlled by Teddy Atlas just doesn't ring true.

Bad decision or not, who cares about this rescoring? These organizations are so corrupt, they can say the same guy won and there's nothing that can be done about it. They don't want the original decision to look bad.

I do not buy this rescoring. There should be another body which does the rescoring of the three corrupt judges. I will rather believe boxers who watched these fight scored it and say Horn won than some unknown judges. Because from their perspective, they sure does not want to get robbed.
