You also labelled "fair" the same as "nothing", so its unclear you mean fairly stupid or not stupid since they both have the same value to you. thank you for doing so, my reply becomes very easy because of that.
Ward's best win at SMW was against Carl Froch. He beat him easy despite having a fractured hand. Regarding Eubank, I didn't say he was old. I said he was faded. The SMW division wasn't stacked when Ward was there, but after he'd accomplished all he could, he moved up for a fresh challenge. Whereas Joe spent 14 years in the division where he starved himself to make weight, to defend a lightly regarded title against B and C class fighters on a regular basis. You say LHW was weak when Johnson beat Tarver, yet at that point, Kessler and Lacy hadn't done anything noteworthy, and Joe was fighting the Mkrtchyan's of the world. What about in the early 00's, when he knew Ottke wouldn't fight him? The LHW division contained the following guys: Roy, Tarver, Harding, R Johnson, G Johnson, Griffin, Erdei, Dariusz M, Woods and Gonzalez. They were recognisable names. Who did Joe fight? Pudwell, Veit, Mitchell, Brewer and Salem etc. What about the previous 10 plus years? Added to the names listed above, were the likes of Hill and Nunn. There's no comparison between the 2 divisions, and the list of guys he could have targeted, compared to the guys he fought. He had no ambition. He was fighting guys like Salem even in his 30's. Do you seriously think that he would have moved up to fight a guy like Kovalev had he have been in Ward's position? He was happy to be fighting guys like Manfredo.
Absolute nonsense. Obviously you never saw Joe's career in it's entirety. He struggled with Reid and was dropped by guys like Kabary Salem. As great as he was, he was always easy to hit, especially with right hands. Kovalev is a basic fighter? Ha! If Kovalev is basic, what level were Joe's WBO opposition operating at?
Another nonsense post based on emotion. I see you're still upset about the low blows on Kovalev which weren't actually low. As for Ward not being willing to fight him, Ward fights prime fighters. Joe defended a lightly regarded WBO belt for 10 years against mainly B and C class opposition.
I did not. I was reading into your inferences. Fine, I'll remove the 'nothing' since you clearly don't want to adress the stupidity of what you said - the claim that losing to a world class fighter means your past it, apparently. Hopkins was clearly 'past it' more than a decade before the fight using your amazing logic.
Timing doesn't always beat speed. Calzaghe's speed was freakinsh, Ward's timing isn't. Ward isn't Mayweather when it comes to timing. I mean Froch ran him pretty close.
no, it was calzaghes logic, not mine. And the word would be faded, no longer cutting it at world level. THATS THE POINT - I AM SAYING HE WAS WRONG.
The WBO has had great fighters fighting for their titles over the years. However, they were a laughing stock in the early 00's, and some of Joe's opposition was awful for a man of his talents. The fact that he was happy to fight all of the guys he did, speaks volumes.
that pretty much explains a lot of your posts, you plough in without thinking even if you are told repeatedly.
Back then, the WBO had no respect amongst knowledgeable fans, respected journalists, or publications like Ring magazine. The Ring didn't recognise them, and the belt wasn't needed in order to be classed as an undisputed champion. They were a laughing stock back then: http://assets.espn.go.com/boxing/columns/graham/1097210.html
