Went to a gym for the first time with an old friend who knows the trainer, I'm just going to say what he said and based on it, do you guys think he knows what he's talking about? "Your skiddish in boxing you have to be calm the whole time even when your getting hit you have to be able to remain calm with your body" "The left hook is the hardest punch to master and the guys that can do it well can control a fight if you can make a guy preoccupied and worried about getting hit" "Harry greb has the best record in boxing history" "Power comes from your legs and your hips that's where it all starts"
You're asking guys who've never fought before--including at least two who apparently don't even know how to work a heavybag properly--to critique the boxing advice of an experienced trainer, Frank Gilbert?
Sort out a routine or stop lifting weights. 10 minutes once a week is a complete waste of time and effort.
Not critique. More or less, does he know what he's talking about. don't know any of these peoples experience, I assumed that because I asked for experienced boxers opinions that those would be the only ones giving it or they would say if they weren't
I've never heard of Gilbert, but it's sound advice. Very true about being relaxed. And it may take a long time to get used to, especially when you fight and spar. You can waste a lot of energy by not being relaxed. It also helps you see more, and helps your react to things better.
You never had the guts to spar for real. You've only done light sparring, and paid for pad work. You're a joke. You should be banned for continuously instigating and talking ****, despite being an anonymous 40 year old troll. Also, I can't find anything about Gilbert on google. Do you even know who he is, or are you just pretending so that you can insult and bully more people? You're 40! Shouldn't you be raising a family, or busy with less trivial things than stalking two online posters every single day?
My god, you're ridiculous. Can't tell whether you're dishonest or just mentally impaired or something. But enough is enough-- what's your basis for giving sparring advice? What kind of sparring have you been doing at Sam's gym? Would love more details on your four-hour bag- & glove-busting workouts! Do you still really claim to be one of the two hardest punchers who work out there? Most of us have seen your workout footage. Do you know how ridiculous you look giving boxing advice? Stick to posting pretty clips of people throwing hard punches. OP was clearly looking for advice from an experienced boxer and you clearly do not qualify. PS - Google Frank Gilbert and Maryland boxing and you'll find enough to know that he's an actual trainer, and not some kid newbie who doesn't even know how to work a heavybag. You have some gall.
Yeah he sounds good. Learn as much as you can from him. It doesn't take a great trainer to make an amateur champ. I had an average trainer and he had guys who were on the usa boxing team, pro fighters, top level ufc fighters, etc. My coach probably didn't even know who Harry Greb was! He thought that boxers from the 1930s fought like the stereotypical fisticuffs guys. Needless to say he was an idiot. A lot of guys on the internet will exaggerate what constitutes a good amateur trainer. Don't pay them no mind, just look at how your coach does with other fighters (if they are successful or not from working with him). From the experience I had training and sparring with golden gloves amateur champs, I am more than confident I could win a state gloves title. Piece of cake. They weren't slackers either.
Where have I given sparring advice in this thread you psycho. Where do YOU get off giving people advice? You've never had a real sparring session in your life, and you're 40. Maybe you should stop by and ask the people there if you're such a curious stalker. That's exactly what was said to me. Also, I was told that the top SHW prospect and I were responsible for destroying the last bag. This is just what I was told. My technique is very crude and unrefined, but my power isn't. And if you want your first real sparring session, you can feel the power for yourself. So that for once you're not actually talking out of your dumb ass, that your dad and mom should've spanked extra hard when you were a kid. Maybe you would've grown up to have been something, instead of a 40 year old loser, who spends time every single day arguing with 20 year olds about an activity they've actually participated in, and you never have, and never will. Every other post of yours has to do with me, even though I seem to be cool with almost everyone else. If I'm on your mind all the time, come get that ass whoopin, since you stalked me and know where I am. What's the problem? You should be banned.
I don't know how it is in America, but I think that every trainer in a real boxing gym should be worth listening to, especially if you're a beginner. The basics are not hard to teach. Also, I don't understand how a persons own experience in the ring effect the advice he is able to give. In any sports, the best trainers usually weren't the best players. Too see, and tell someone what to do from the sideline, is not the same thing as doing it yourself.
Speak for yourself... "Your skiddish in boxing you have to be calm the whole time even when your getting hit you have to be able to remain calm with your body" - Correct "The left hook is the hardest punch to master and the guys that can do it well can control a fight if you can make a guy preoccupied and worried about getting hit" - Correct "Harry greb has the best record in boxing history" Who the **** is Greb "Power comes from your legs and your hips that's where it all starts" -That's the basics, no ****. So does it sound like he knows what he's talking about? Yes.
Hilarious! I stand by and repeat all of the questions and complaints I raised in my previous post. You have no business giving any actual aspiring boxers training or sparring advice. Same is likely true of Mr. DW, given his footage from just last year but at least it seems like there's some chance that he's come a long way since then. You just get on here and tell implausible exaggerations about your boxing experience, lies that are apparent to anyone whos seen your footage. Do you need to impress noobs and random internet strangers that badly? Anyway, I'm done with this sidebar for now. Peace. PS - Spare me the internet tough talk. We've seen you on film!! You must be a special kind of delusional.
