I have long questioned this notion. I watched plenty of fights hoping somebody gets battered/schooled but actually paying for the privilege of that. Aside from Vitali v Williams (I paid to see Williams lose) I can't think of any fight I have done that for. It's an often used phrased for some of boxing's most controversial characters but I was just wondering how much truth there is it as far as the forum is concerned. Have any of you bought PPV/event tickets just to see a particular fighter lose?
At £16.95 I'm not. Not a chance. I know fans stateside say it's a good price compared to what they pay, and that is true, but this is nowhere near a PPV card. I hope "lotsa" fans stay away from this tonight.
Of course I agree. Total rip off.really hope it backfires badly for ITV so they don't try this again!
Well done. That IS one of the reasons I want selby to lose. He is freakishly long and rangy and fast ...all wrong for short stubby Carl. I don't think selby is a good boxer...just that he capitalises on freakish physical advantages.... I don't believe Carl is a real modern featherweight...he is too short and small, short reach etc....plus he doesn't have the high work rate and Bob n weave buzz saw style needed to overcome his physical disadvantages against today's huge tall long featherweights. Carl is basically a long range boxer trapped in a short stubby body. His skills and talents have allowed him to overcome this ...up to 122. But 126 is a step too far for Carl. The numbers tell the story. He lost zero fights at 122.... He's lost half the fights he's had at 126. Carl should stay at 122.
I'm in agreement, he could fight Inoue but his skillset means, imo that he will be able to hang at 126. I was lauding more to the fact how Frampton avoided him.
It's not just Frampton who acted the coward, Quigg and LSC are just as bad. Tbh I don't think Frampton will be much longer, he'll take another L and be done within 24 months.
I used to tune in to watch Eubank SR get beat and towards the end I was hoping he would win same with Tyson I was never a Tyson fan and I always wanted him to lose and towards the end hoped for him to win, just like Vlad vs big chin Josh ! still pissed he never finished him off when he had the chance !
Out of curiosity why did you want to see Williams lose ? The attention he got after Tyson win or other ?
Not quite the same, but I routinely bet on Paul Smith so it feels like money well spent whenever he loses.
