And he looked awful in that fight lost every round. Was shot at this point.

A much needed one at that as Botha was really taking it to him... Lost every round prior and was on the verge of losing that one as well... Tyson probably should have been dq'd for blatantly trying to break Botha's arm though.

Add to this the fact that Tyson admitted in the post-fight press conference this was what he was trying to do.

Definitely past his best but certainly not shot.

Tyson was game through 2003. Became shot due to injuries in 2004 but could still bring the heat as long as his body held up, against McBride he was shot both mentally and physically.

It was Tyson who gog me j to boxing at the age of 6, but as ive aged the once immortal, unbeatable Tyson has faded into a guy who was unbeatable against weak opposition for a short space of time.

I řemember prior to the Lewis fight I'd he could rekindle just 80% of what he had, but truth be told post prison Tyson was a high level journeyman.

Botha was quite competitive while it lasted.

Not being able to train for the best part of four years stripped a lot of his timing and physical skills from him, to the point that when he got released and began his comeback, Ron Borges said something to the effect that Tyson looked good, but underneath it all there was a lot of dry rot.

Also, when Mike went inside, he initially let himself go, and just brooded and ate all sorts of junk. He said in his book he blew up to like 275 Ibs at one point, and through working out each day for six months solid, pared his weight down to 218 lbs.

On a tangent: "The Lewis fight was scheduled for April so I didn't have much time to stop doing coke and weed and start training in earnest." ('Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth', Hardcover, page 389). Tyson, in my opinion, wasn't shot when he fought Botha (or even by the time he fought Lewis); but the time in prison, his out-of-control life and the alcohol and drugs / general indiscipline certainly exacerbated the whole process.
