Being shot has nothing to do with age.

I know but still Tyson wasn't "shot".

Tyson was "back" until he fought an actual live opponent in Holyfield.

How dafop does age = prime? Only a casual thinks that...Ali was shot at 32. Bowe was shot before his 30's.

Tyson was shot to chit in that fight.

he didnt have the mindset for longevity. he was in that sense past it. shot is a exaggeration though.

Besides that, only a fool would dismiss years in prison in likely wrongful arrest.

But if he hadnt gone to prison, its likely he wouldnt have lasted much longer than after dougie as a bona fide elite. Early retirement after his arduous early career was probably on the cards. He didnt have the longevity of a johnson or waldo.

Even without prison and the Doug, one of Holyfield or Lewis would certainly have derailed his ebbing mindset. He didnt have the headspace to take em both out.

Why are you idiots talking about prison?

Tyson was inactive for almost two years prior to the Botha bout, because he was suspended for biting Holyfield's ear off.

It was a comeback against a tough opponent from a near two year lay off in his 30s. He was rusty from the two year lay off and age catching up with him, not the prison term before his 95 comeback.

I've mentioned this on the Classic forum, but I love the timing of this punch - IMMEDIATELY after Pacheco states "That's the mark of a shot fighter" ... CRACK! Made a quick liar out of Ferdie, and made Botha's mockery of Tyson seem like a very bad idea. Yeah, he wasn't quite what he used to be, but damn - he could still swat.

Oh shut up, casual. If you knew about Tyson being suspended and losing his license you would have mentioned. But like the typical Tyson fanboy casual..."dat prison term dough"

well I lived thru it, so... no.

His ability depleted before he bit Holyfields ear. I am sure you know this, otherwise he would have been more than a handful for Evander.

doubt wont help you here, I'm afraid. But you have a right to your beliefs, and they dont affect me so please do maintain them.

Cynicism is a good in a man anyway, I applaud that.

Was he shot or just in a bad place mentally?

He looked OK against Francis, Savarese and Golota.

Tyson was on the slide after beating Spinks in 1988.

Had climbed the mountain and met no resistance when he got there.

Busted his hand on Mitch Green's head in a streetfight shortly afterwards, had a layoff & was never the same again.

Looked sloppy against Bruno first fight back, got Carl The Truth Williams out there in 93 seconds second fight back (hey, The Truth looked good for 83 seconds!) & lost to Buster Douglas third fight back.

His best ever kayo was Larry Holmes. That was also his best ever win.

Was still young & hungry at that point. Six months later (after Spinks) he wasn't.

While history won't record it that way, the Iron Mike that rampaged through the heavyweight division in the 1980s was probably the best heavyweight there ever was.

If you weren't a child of the 80s, you wouldn't/couldn't understand.

But 38-41 Wlad is prime..... You are one agenda driven idiot. Also... Learn the difference between shot and faded. 99-2003 Tyson was faded but still dangerous and capable of beating other contenders who weren't elite. Only the Tyson who fought McBride was shot, both mentally and physically.
