What was there to be impressed about, did he do something that was unexpected tonight? I bet on Eubank tonight. I expected him to have way too much for AA. He's got an amazing engine and work rate. He also demonstrated once again that he's got a great set of whiskers...but...I was saddened to see just how past it Abraham's was. He offered nothing but shooting practice for Eubank and he missed a lot mate, a lot. It didn't even matter that Eubank lacked power, Abraham's was there to be stopped but he couldn't land a sequence of successive clean shots for the ref to step in. I don't think I'm being out of order saying this. I don't think that performance tonight will worry the big super middleweights in that tournament, a number of whom I believe would have stopped AA tonight minus the posturing of course.
I see what you're saying but you're making it out like it's easy hitting Abraham with that peekaboo stance and negative tactics
I meant during the number of times that he was against the ropes throwing absolutely nothing back mate. He could do that because even when Eubank's shots did land, particularly to the body, Abraham did not drop his guard. This is where Eubank's lack of power goes against him imo. He won't be able to stop Yildirim either. A live opponent who's operated at light heavy. I'll be shocked if he even fights him. Eubank is quality, entertaining to watch and will cause any fighter problems with his energy and work rate...but he's in the wrong division.
Frack me ! he won every round ! Dominated an ex world champ who still has a hell of a chin and heart. how you can criticise that performance is beyond me ! It's like criticising an NBA team if they concede one point in a match or Federer for losing a game
Did Sam Eggington prove he was world class after beating down on a 36 year old Paulie Malignaggi? Paulie was a two weight champion, so if we are using the same argument for Eubank beatin a former world champ who just stood in front of him all night, then we can proclaim Eggingonton is an exceptional talent that will take out the best guys in his division!
There is much more risk producing against someone with 30 KOs compared to Paula who is right up there with the softest puncher in Boxing.
There truth on both sides here. On one hand AA was. Fossil ...albeit a tough fossil...so that did take some of the shine off another CEJ win. Then again Chris IS an amazingly fit guy. You have to be impressed with his engine.
What this win means is another debate entirely, but just talking about Eubank jnrs performance against what was in front of him this weekend, very little fault can be found
I'm a big fan of George Groves mate. I believe George would have stopped him. And I do like Eubank. He will give anyone he fights absolute hell. Is it absolutely necessary for him to strap what look like pillows from John Lewis under his gloves? I know it's been mentioned before but could someone remind me why he does this?
I was about to ask the same question. It's baffling how he lacks power to such a degree. Could the choice of hand wraps ....all that padding be cushionIng the blows? Serious question.
Quinlan didn't rate his power and Abraham's didn't seem to respect it either last night. He's a very strong, athletic lad...he'll never have any trouble out scoring an opponent. It must be that padding cos the force of the punches do jolt the head but it's almost like a sandbag effect rather than surgical so to speak.
Abraham is as well mate. He couldn't finish Blackwell off, O'Sullivan, Chudinov (all middleweights) either despite one sided onslaughts. There's no doubting his quality. I'm sure Yildirim will have his work cut out with him but lets be honest, we know now that he's not going to stop Yildirim.
