This is why I advocate a Super Heavyweight division in pro boxing just as there is in the amateurs. Ali in his prime would have embarrassed and humiliated the behemoths of today. They all are plodding and slow compared to him. Sonny Liston was a beast at 6' 1" 215 pounds. He had a 84" reach and his fists measured 15 1/2 inches around. Ron Lyle and George Foreman were big strong and fearless men. I don't think 5 or 6" inches in height would save anyone from their onslaught of punches.

    Not this again.

Wilder possesses the power to have knocked Joe Louis out.

    Wilder has huge power.

The problem is: He's uncoordinated and has struggled with B and C class fighters.

My money would have been on Joe any day of the week.

No, boxing hasn't evolved like other sports have.

If you knew anything about Louis, you'd know that technically, he was on another level to the "Windmill"

Of course Potvetkin and Haye aren't too small to compete against SHW's. Ali would have had a better chance though, because although he didn't have their power, he'd have been much more elusive. He also had more heart than Haye and he'd have been much more confident.

    But
I will assume you are just young, or just a troll looking for attention. Guys back in the 70's and even into the 80's tried to come in light for speed reasons. You will see guys now 6'1 and weigh 290 pounds with man boobs. George Foreman for example weighed 230 as a 19 year old but got down to 212 for one fight.

Wlad weights 240 now. When he turned pro he weighed 220. Fury is a fat slob. But if you want to use him for a example guys like Leroy Jones back in the 70's was 6'5 270 at his peak. They had guys like Al Jones who was 6'6 230 plus.

Foreman even when he was old was a harder puncher than Wlad. Wlad fought a washed up Everett Martin 2 times and couldn't hurt him or knock him down. Fat Foreman was able to knock Martin down with one punch.

    So try again troll.

Did Holmes fight Foreman? Holmes also said Butterbean punched him harder than Tyson did. Ali never got hit flushed by Foreman so he wouldn't know how hard Foreman's power was.

Tilis got knocked out by Morrison in 1 round and Witherspoon in 1 around but said Shavers the fight he beat and couldn't knock him out punched harder? The thing is you believe because a fighter makes a comment then it means it is true right?

But I do agree with everything else you typed though.

    This is silly.

    Tyson Fury isn't a puncher.

The majority of his knockouts have been accumulitive TKO's.

Ernie Shavers was said by many to have had huge power. He was nicknamed: "The puncher of the century"

Actually, that was Wilt Chamberlain, but it doesn't make any difference.

    I agree with you.

    Good post.

Good post, but the last thing boxing needs is another division with another 5/6 belts.

How many world class SHW's are there anyway?

    Wlad
    Exactly.
Ali had 37 kos in 55 fights. Ali wasn't a ko puncher but if he got you hurt he took you home. And skills always lay the bills.

Ali would get humiliated by large heavyweights like AJ, Lewis and the Klitschko's. Ali struggled with inferior boxers his own size like Lyle, Norton and Shavers.

Wrong. Athletes these days are just bigger and much better. That is why the small weak heavyweights of the 70s would have zero chance against the bigger superior heavyweights of today.

Could you imagine Joshua fighting Ali lol. It would be like to boxers from different weight divisions fighting, Ali would not even have a chance. People were worried for Ali's life when he fought Foreman who was practically the same size as him, imagine people's reaction to Ali fighting the far bigger, stronger and power punching combinations of Joshua. It would be a miracle if Ali got past the third round.

I guess you made this account just to troll? Lol Lewis was knocked out by Hasim Rahman and McCall two 6'2 inch guys. Wlad Klitsckho was knocked out by 6'2 Lamon Brewster, 6'3 Ross Purrity and 6'4 Corrie Sanders. Anthony Joshua was knocked out in 4 seconds as a amateur by 6'0 Mihai Nistor. Norton was 6'3, Ron Lyle was 6'3 and Ali was past his prime vs Shavers.

I could also add Wlad was knocked down 3 times by 6'2 butterball Sam Peter. Tyson "Cokehead Ped user" Fury was knocked down with one punch by both 6'3 190 pound Steve Cunningham who has a career record of 29 wins and only 13 Kos ( Steve couldn't punch against guys his own size) and 6'3 Neven Pajkic who has 17 wins with only 5 kos.

You little kids who think you know boxing crack me up.

Ali at his best would have been a handful for any HW.

Why would AJ have humiliated him?

Those guys you've mentioned have also struggled with inferior boxers to Ali.
