Retired former undisputed world super-middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe has been called out to take on current undisputed super middleweight king Andre Ward in a mega comeback fight by the American’s Manager James Prince and his trainer Virgil Hunter.


Team Ward have dared Calzaghe, who quite the ring in 2008 with a record of 46-0, with 32KOs, to come out of retirement and face the WBC/WBA champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs)

Calzaghe, 40-years-old, has not fought since November 2008 when he outpointed another ring legend in Roy Jones Jr.

Just throw this one in there for people saying Calzaghe only wanted Hopkins and Jones because they where past prime....but at least Hopkins was top 5 P4P and RJJ was active.....

Furthermore this was wards response to Joe doing his usual " i would beat him" and then never actually facing him whilst entertaining another bum.

I'm pretty sure that this was in response to comments made by Joe.

It's a fact that Joe only wanted Roy when he was past prime. I'm sure by now you've read his quotes throughout the years.

 

Calzaghe would always best SOB as long as the referee, judges and boxing commission are neutral, but SOB would hold, head butt, elbow, wrestle, run, and hit Calzaghe in the testicles knowing that Weeks would stop the fight, only SOB can break all the rules of boxing without any penalties..............

 

Calzaghe was asked a question in regards to facing Ward, just as all past fighters have in regards to current champions...just like Lewis with Wlad....just like Duran with Floyd Joy....

LMFAO and how was Joe facing another bum he'd been retired 4 years and Ward was just coming off the Dawson victory, the fact Hunter was calling for the fight is a joke in itself.

JC was asked a question about Ward in relation to last dominant champion v the new dominant champion and Calzaghe answered like all past champions have.

It's no different from Hearns, SRL and Duran in relation to FMJ...or Dempsey about Marciano.....or Lewis against Wlad...

The worry for me was that Hunter and Prince jumped straight in wanting to make a fight with a drug addled 40yo, who was 4 years retired....he'd of been 41 by the time of the fight....that is the main point.

 

Calzaghe would be feinted and countered from the outside and roughed up on the inside. His offense would do nothing to change Wards' game plan. And that's not how you beat Ward.

I can now remember Joe putting out a video and Hunter responding strongly. I think it was definitely Hunter more than Ward.

I never paid any real attention to it though. Because Joe was never coming back at that stage, and in my honest opinion, he'd never have put his unbeaten record up against Ward at any point. He was absolutely determined to retire unbeaten. He had no interest in fighting the likes of Dawson, which is why he bowed out with an easy fight against Roy.

Previously Odour was trying to pretend Ward was spontaneously chasing 40-seomthing Cowardzaghe out of his own interest in 40somethings, but reveals himself a liar now.

 

Actually I didn't and if you are actually a boxing fan you should have known about this all along.
