There has to be something solid with this mathchup. Not every fight rumoured has a venue and a date. All hope rests on ...Al Haymon. The hell with Stiverne. Get in line fatty

I believe the long form is "I will never fight drug cheats unless they are not Alexander Povetkin".

    exactly this.
he doesn't suddenly deserve recognition just because it took him 39 fights to fight someone decent. until he keeps fighting good solid top 10 opponents from now on he'll always be the bronze bambi bong squad special.

that said, i'm looking forward to seeing him duck out of this match somehow

Sweet! Major props to both if they take it. Ortiz for taking on a young, devastating puncher in Wilder, Wilder for taking on the high risk Ortiz. If Wilder wins he shuts up the critics and earns the Joshua fight, which should then be an international blockbuster event. I'm picking Ortiz to crash the party though, haha. I haven't read past the first page and I haven't seen this elsewhere, hope this isn't just spreading a rumour.

He will deserve it too, no one else wants to face Ortiz so at least he is stepping up. If Ortiz wins then man this guy really is the real deal.

Looks like Stiverne isn't going to let the fight happen

yeah its annoying me looking at everyone saying 'major props for taking it' or respect wilder for taking this fight' as a heavyweight champion the very least you should do is be fighting the highly ranked contenders. This is their job its what they do, the fans pay to see them fight and they be fighting the best. It's not just wilder tho its any fighter. For example kell brook got so much praise for fighting his mandatory in spence but as a champions thats the very least he should do or move up in weight.

This is still just a rumour right?

Ok, so no need for anyone to get excited.

Come on Ortiz kill this chump, I don't think he has the punch output to really batter wilder but minute wilder throws some of them windmills if Ortiz times him it's lights out.

Wilder will have to box off his jab and not try and box for a stoppage, he's regressed since the stiverne fight but he and his team only have them selves to blame.

People need to realize that age is nothing but a number. Ortiz is a top 5 heavyweight and Wilder deserves full credit
    if this fight happens.

So let me get this straight. Wilder is paying step-aside to his mandatory (who is crap) to fight a legit top 10 figher? That would be a 180 degree turn-around for Wilder and his handlers, completely out of character.
