The point Dino was making was that Wilder was trying to fight Martin when Martin was the IBF champion. Which is a rather important detail to leave out.

Postponing the Povetkin fight to unify is different from postponing the Povetkin fight to "just fight that random bum Martin."

    It's a good point.

Chasing Martin is not what I would call trying to unify. Again talking sh1t on social media isn't getting a fight made.

This is the difference between Wilder and AJ, AJ gets the fights he wants because his team works towards them..

Wilder just talks crap without his team following up.. Any fight can get made if the reward is worth it..

It was a unification by definition because Martin and Wilder were both champions at the time.

I do agree that Wilder is afraid of fighting good opponents and is content to fight bums though. And I do believe Wilder's team was probably just namedropping Ortiz with little intention of fighting him. However, I don't think AJ is much better. Hearn is just better at hiding how AJ fights bums.

The point is just that it's unreasonable to deride Wilder for wanting to fight Martin (when Martin was a champion). We have to be fair about these things.

I think the Ortiz team is exactly right about how they are being given the runaround because no one wants to take the risk of fighting this guy, Especially the shielded Wilder

Wilder knows Ortiz would beat him down but wants the credit by acting as if he's trying to get the fight

People who follow team Wilders "shenanigans" can see right through this BS

If AJ gets the fights he wants then why don't he want the Wilder fight?

When the "news" broke that Wilder will be fighting Ortiz it didn't seem legit to me. I read between the line and it turns out it is a potential fight. Nothing signed and the Ortiz camp wasn't even approached yet.

I am sure he wants the fight, but Wilder hasn't fought any top guys yet and that means Wilder has not proved himself the best yet.

Thus a rematch with Wlad and fighting his mandatory should come first, then AJ should match up with Wilder.

It's really not rocket science dingbat. AJ has had less than 20 fights and Wilder is nearly at 40 and still hasn't fought any of the top guys.

Put it this way, if AJ doesn't go after Wilder after his next 1 to 2 fights (depending on vlads decision) then AJ will get a lot of hate from everyone as it will be merited.

You know my words are fair. Just except them and carry on without freaking out.

Well, nobody else is even acting like they wanna fight Ortiz if indeed Wilder is acting. He is one of Joshua's mandatories but Hearn chose to go in another direction. Parker is going no where near him. Wilder is in good company.

The only good thing about this is that Wilder might finally fight his mandatory challenger.

Step two would be to get a serious promotor, this stuff that going in right now is not serious. Me and my mates plan a night on the town better than this.

TBF Whyte fought Chisora. Breazeale fought Ugonoh.

Both were decent, entertaining fights that neither man HAD to take.

I've never seen anything like this Wilder situation.

Its unprecedented to the level he/team have taken it.

The thing is, I love this guy in the ring, he is exciting, crazy windmills and all.

I even defended this guy for taking it slow for his first 30 plus fights because I agreed he had a few things to work on before going for the best.

But what he did after beating Bermaine has been nothing short of shocking. The guy is milking the WBC title worse than anyone ever and that is shocking.

Its bad for boxing in so many ways.

Got a feeling that the majority of AJs fan base will give him a pass for not fighting Wilder. Big stars like him get away with murder
