He looks similar to Dempsey, but bigger biceps/neck. Louis had the physique perfect for boxing. Muscle in all the right places.
Fitzsimmons was often described as a freak in his own time for having such light little legs and heavily muscled upper back and shoulders. It was like his legs stayed at lightweight while his shoulders were heavyweight. Maybe he wasn't a freak either, maybe that was hyperbole too. Louis certainly wasn't freakish. I don't think anyone claimed him to be unusually built ever, until now. Louis arms, neck and shoulders look normal for a heavyweight athlete trained to perfection. His whole physique looks normal. Powerful, balanced, lean. Not skinny and not overly muscled.
That's not freakish though. Boxers traditionally, on average, come with normal athletic physiques, balanced and not extreme. Unlike, say, SHW weightlifters, pro basketball players, high jumpers and marathon runners, who are shaped in extreme ways beneficial to the task.
I'm not as impressed with SHW weightlifters. Their proportions are not unique. Getting into the shape that Louis is in requires a far more nuanced fitness routine, so to speak.
In reference to proportionality, I would say Louis is freakish looking. Big arms, big shoulders, big neck, smallish chest. Very disproportional.
It's based on sense. He has an impressive figure without lifting weights. By the way, does everything you say have verifiable proof? I can apply the same level of unreasonable scrutiny to your posts. This is the biggest problem with the careless posters like you. The constant double standards.
Isn't that pretty much the mold for muscular boxers? We've seen plenty of boxers with more disproportionate arms and shoulders, etc. for their frames, so I don't know why anyone would consider Louis' physique "freakish."
