The WBA just published its new ratings.

    http://www.wbaboxing.com/wba-ranking

The organization's top five heavyweight contenders are, in order, Luis Ortiz (age 38), Alexander Ustinov (age 40), Shannon Briggs (age 45), Fres Oquendo (age 44) and Wlad Klitschko (age 41).

THAT is a list of OLD fighters. Especially considering the WBA's champ (Joshua) is only 27 years old.

Hell, the WBO champ (Parker) is just 25, with 'old man' Wilder rounding out the champs at 31.

I don't recall such a disparity in age between so many champs at the top and so many challengers below. It's really getting ridiculous.

He's retained his ranking. They just suspended him until November ... when he's about to turn 46.

At some point it's going to make more sense to just start rating younger fighters with a handful of fights under their belts.

I know all the major organisations have some huge problems and issues but **** like this makes the WBA the worst of a very bad bunch by far. Oquendo hasn't fought since he got beat 3 years ago and he is your number 4 ranked contender? Briggs hasn't fought in a year and just got popped and is number 3? It's almost like someone at the top of the WBA is just orchestrating a massive troll of boxing fans and making the worst list they possibly could on purpose.

None of this would have happened if they hadn't split Cruiserweights from the heavyweight division.

I wish Wlad would make his mind up.

Ortiz and others are in limbo until he does.

Vlad is still a good fighter, but Oquendo is not only over the hill, he has never been a good fighter.................

Someone should interview the head of the WBA as to how this is possible. I would love to hear that answer.

Have a weight cap at HW and most CW seem to be able to make it as a HW.
