What you talking about now ? Not only have I proved your stupid claims about me wrong time and time again, I'm actually arguing the case for Mike Tyson NOT needing intimdation against his actual good opponents. Sure, he scared a lot of the lesser opponents, but the best opponents came to fight and weren't necesarily intimidated at all. Why would they be ? They were badass heavyweights themselves, some of them had never been beaten, and they were bigger than Tyson. Funny thing is, I've seen you make these exact points many times. Now, it looks like you're trying to prove the opposite. And why ? Because you're so obssessed with contradicting "Unforgiven" you can't even remember what you think about boxing.
I agree with this list. That's still a lot of good wins he had WITHOUT intimidation though. Berbick, Ribalta, Thomas, Tucker, Tubbs, Tillis, Ruddock etc. I don't think any of them were intimidated and Tyson battered them pretty good. "he intimidated some guys, but mostly he just used to hit them really hard". Exactly, that's what I think.
I would point out that Holyfield was a bit intimidated before their first fight. He's gone on record saying he was second guessing himself and almost pulled out because the Tyson mystique had gotten to him. He wasn't sure if he had enough to deal with Mike. I'm not saying he was pissing his pants but fear can touch even the bravest of men in combat. Maybe that intimidation factor had him training harder, better and more focused. His legacy would depend on this fight. But he rose to the occasion. I would consider most fighters if not all who fought Tyson were intimidated by him, whipping themselves into the best shape of their lives. beating Tyson meant more than winning the title. It meant fame and fortune. Take Buster Douglas for example. I know Tony Tubbs was tubby but I'm sure he was accustomed to fighting at that weight for a couple years already. It certainly didn't affect his speed and overall skill set. But the fighters who looked visibly shaken were Ratliff, Bonecrusher and Spinks. Holmes didn't look too confident in the ring before disrobing either. Post prison Seldon and Golota performed pitifully.
Hahahahaha you always get carried away don't ya, now saying Holyfield was scared hahahaha. Your condition and obsession is getting worse on a daily basis......
You might be right. Most of the time I'm not interested in reading past the first sentence of your replies. I still insist you're point of view is repulsive.
It depends on how we're defining "intimidation". Most fighters get scared, it's part of the job. Cus D'amato taught this. Tyson used his own fear to conquer other fighters, but I wouldn't say Tyson was intimidated by every boxer he fought and beat. I'd say an intimidated fighter would mean a fighter whose own fear prevents him from doing what's best for him. It's when they let the fear take over and they panic and can't control that fear, and are pre-occupied by what the other guy is going to do to them. Taking a fight very seriously and respecting/fearing an oppponent's skillset does not equate to being intimidated.
This is the best post you've ever made. Very honest. You don't read my posts and your still insist my view is repulsive. I've never worked out what your problem is. And I'm not sure you know either.
I do read your posts. Recently I've decided to skip the other banter because I read you like braille. So you know exactly what my problem is. Going back to the other post about intimidation - definition means timid or fearful. I agree that it's mainly about fear but it covers a wider variety, like timidity, discouragement, terrorize, overawe. So maybe Holyfield wasn't intimidated in those regards. But he did second guess himself in preparation.
He's only slapped one or two fighter at a press conference, maybe thrown some tables. He's a nut but he usually hasn't slapped anyone. It was only Vitali. Do you surmise that Vitali was slapped because he was LESS intimidating ? That's flawed reasoning. I don't think anyone has intimidated Chisora. I think he likes some guys and dislikes others and sometimes he's just not sure what he's doing.
