Styles make fights. Chavez beats him any day of the week. He is a better version of Castillo.

Chavez of 87 light weight would hammer Floyd. No amount of showboating or fancy trick moves would stop this Chavez. His explosive short hooks and body punches have Floyd covering up and against the ropes. Unanimous Dec for Julio.

I believe at 130 to 135 pounds Chavez prime should be favourite against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Not to sound redundant as others have posted basically the same.

I think 1987 Lightweight Chavez would have a very good chance at beating him.

Chavez was at his zenith then.

We saw how much Floyd was troubled by Jose Luis Castillo.

Chavez would make Floyd work very hard and force him to throw more than he is accustomed to in order to fend Chavez off.

I can see Chavez using his strength, body attack and work rate to force Floyd to the ropes. Floyd would slip and counter, but some shots would get through. Chavez would keep up the attack for duration and simply outwork Floyd for a decision win.

    I'd favor Chavez at 130 and 135.

Yep I agree that Chavez would outwork him. The thing about Chavez is that he was a very good defender himself, so Floyd could not pot shot him like he usually does.

I never thought much of Chavez, I don't think he would touch Floyd all night long

Very tough fight I would slightly favor Chavez. I think if they fight 10x Chavez wins 6 or 7.

Well someone could easily say Mayweather was a much better fighter than Taylor and he was 2 seconds away from beating Chavez

Taylor was a volume fighter. He throws mult-punch combinations also.
Floyd is a selective puncher. And a counterpuncher.

Styles make fights. Chavez has a difficult style for the style of Floyd.

Both fights were close. The 2nd fight was offically scored more closely than the first fight.

Many claimed Floyd lost the first fight.About the shoulder injury, we do not know if hat is true or not.Even if it were true, Castillo already pounded Floyd in the first 6 rounds.
