Fights that you believe should never have been sanctioned due to mismatch and old age

Put aside the floyd Mayweather circus show, there are boxing fights that should never be sanctioned due to the increased health risk they pose to the vunerable ill equipped and incapble fighter who has been selected as fodder.

After seeing that Whyte has agreed to fight a 44 year old man in Micheal Grants, who will serve to be nothing more than a punch bag for 12 rounds, then witnessing the legendary Artur Abraham beaten to a pulp the other weekend by the young Chris Eubank, I feel it is a topic that needs to be addressed because a lot of fans of the sport who believe in this stupid notion that fighting old legends who are past their prime is good for a boxer's resume

I am of firm belief that the governing bodies should be drawing a line as to what is acceptable regarding mismatches where old men are fed to young prime fighters(some pumped full of roids), who go all out to devour their offerings, to boost up and shine their resumes

It didn't make me respect Canelo when he battered and broke Shane Mosley's cheekbone in several different places while punishing him for the full 12 rounds. It didn't impress me when Enzo Maccarinelli bounced the 45 year old Roy Jones Jr's head off the canvas and rendered him unconscious. And it didn't make a credible fighter out of Danny Williams when he knocked out a desperate drug addicted washed up Mike Tyson who was only fighting to pay off debts.

In recent memory, these are the fights which I believe should have been called off.

Joshua vs Matt Skleton
Shane Mosley vs David Avanesyan
Canelo vs Mosley
Roy Jones vs Enzo
James Toney vs Denis Lebedev
Artur vs Eubank

And this dillian one shouldn't be sanctioned, he should be ashamed of himself. The only fight where saw a fighter held themselves back against someone who was clearly incapable of defending themselves, is when Lucas Browne fought James Toney and withheld from finishing him off when he had the clear opportunity to do so.

 

So you enjoy watching old men get brain damaged in the ring?

 

Young fighters have more a chance of defending themselves.

It would be the equivalent of a man in his 20's going to a care home, selecting a former Marine veteran, who is now ripe in old age, and expecting the wheelchair bound old man to put up a fight due to his heroics in the past.
