Ray Robinson lost 2 years in the Army. Why does nobody talk about this?

Everybody also mentions that Ali lost 4 years of his boxing career and that affected him. Usually that is brought up to excuse the total ass kicking Joe Frazier gave him. I rate Ali high by the way.

I don't understand how everybody overlooks Ray Robinson losing 2 years to service. And yes he did box and train a bit in the military. But let's be very clear about this, when you are working for Uncle Sam, you're working for Uncle Sam. There is no "other" job or "other" priority. Uncle Sam cares about Hitler not conquering the damn continent of Europe. It's not like Ray Robinson could eat, sleep, breathe boxing during service in WWII. The man couldn't fight for the world title until after the end of his service.

So are we to assume that Ray Robinson could have accomplished much more if he hadn't served years in the Army?

Devils advocate... Maybe those 2 years helped him in a discipline sense and transferred over to his boxing career? Also. Those were 4 years of Ali's prime, those 2 years spent in the Army weren't SRR best years as a fighter.

Look, Pac got ktfo and he's greater than Pac by far. I mean Pac was ****en asleep on his face. And Ali is great. With that said, I rate Pac pretty high but not as high as Floyd. Back handed compliment.

How do you know they weren't 2 years of Robinson's prime? Ray's best weight was 147. He lost 2 years at 147 due to the war.

People won't STFU about Ali's lost years. What about Robinson's?

You're the definition of a troll. An internet troll is somebody who purposely tries to provoke an emotional response from other users and members. That's what you do.

Your argument would be more convincing if you told us what Ray did during the war. Celebrities and athletes got special assignments and did show tours and stuff. Like Joe Louis and Dempsey for example.

Ali turned his back on his country in their time of need and is adored, even making a multi million film about the man, while Mr Robinson's and Marciano's invaluable contributions to the military are continually overlooked.

    Go figure!
