Well regardless I was shocked in both fights re Kovalevs ring IQ and awareness of the situation, first fight he was great at his range but on the inside he was poor and cutting the ring off was non existent.
In the second fight regardless of any low blows why he did seem so resigned to losing again instead of trying to change the situation?if he'd been hurt to the nuts earlier on he should of made a point of it to the ref and tried to buy some time to recover but not a bit of it almost like I don't like the way this is going and I'm not sure if I've got twelve rounds in me against Ward as the SOB just tires me out like no other opponents have ever done?
    Does this sound fair?

Doesn't matter if every punch was on the chin prior, the issue is the final punch that prompted the stoppage was in fact a low blow.

All I can say is ward target that belt line all night. He doesn't care if they are low, as long as he got his shots off.
A good referee should have cautioned that.

Weeks showed both fighters where punches were ok and where they were low at the face to face the only one I believe was low was the very last shot. Kovalev continually turned away from the action through out the fight which kind of gave weeks no choice And after the big right hand kovalev's body language was really asking for the fight to stop I still can't understand how kovalev supporters believe he still wanted to fight. He was just looking for a place to sit down and found one. I do wish weeks gave him count instead of stopping it he really robbed the fans and ward of a satisfying ending.

Yes but that last low blow was irrelevant. the fight was already over. Kov was finished. I really dont see why this is still an issue other than butt hurt Kov fans. If they fought a third time Ward would win again. Lets all move on we have some great fights ahead of us.

That's right its not arguable because in FACT there was no low blow and even after a review post fight the decision rightfully stands. The only people arguing about it is the butthurt fans like you and the many Ward haters, you can read into your videos all you want about 1 punch but the above video shows how Ward won with those numerous body shots that were clearly hurting him.

That's not actually right and there is no mention of naval in the rules.A low blow is any punch below the belt line so if the punch even just touches the belt line its a legal punch as pointed out by Weeks before the fight.

    Doesnt work that way.

It wasnt until after Kov reacted to the last low blow that the action was waved off.

You cant excuse fouls as a means to close a fight.

so many comments on so many Threads on this Forum, not much new to say

but the view in this comment i haven't heard before, and i think it's spot on.

i don't think i have ever seen a championship-level fight in which one fighter so consistently targets the belt-buckle. And indeed, a lot of shots Ward landed were right on it--and were therefore legal. But target that area so consistently and over time a few will miss low.

Actually that has been my stance for a while, its an unfair advantage to target a borderline legal area, which is why it is normally not allowed. He was even creating openings by feinting way below the waist.

Agreed! And Kovalev's waist band was across the naval. The shot that doubled Kov over was on the waist band. Video and film evidence of this and about six other shots on the band are readily availible for any one interested in seekimg the truth.
