I got you man, and I agree. Ward should've been warned, but this is Weeks we're talking about lol. As for the last punch, I think it was a bang-bang play. Don't know if you follow American football but a player caught a ball, wide open with seconds left on the clock. And he didn't go out of bounds to stop the clock. To everyone watching it was obvious: get out of bounds! His explanation was that it was a "bang bang play" and in the heat of the moment he didn't think to get out of bounds. I think it's the same situation with Weeks. He made a mistake, all this talk of corruption and bias is stupid and a lame scapegoat.

My opinion: Ward studied Weeks too and knew he could operate in that grey area. Stuff like that doesn't bother me. What bothers me is peds and loaded gloves.

In the 2nd round Kovalev was given 5 minutes for what can clearly be seen as a middle of the belt-line punch. Weeks did say "keep em up" a number of times during the bout when he saw borderline punches, and at one point he stopped the action and sternly warned both fighters to keep it clean. Weeks did not appear to warn Kovalev for any of his rabbit punches, which he could have as a number of those rabbit punches from Kovalev were hard enough to get a warning.

Weeks didnt do enough, Wards focus on the belt line resulted in too many questionable punches, and the fight ending on a foul that doesn't seem anybody is really happy with. You Ward fans wanted bragging rights, now you are stuck trying to justify low blows as a genuine TKO.

...Kovalev only hit Ward behind the head when Ward rabbit punched him first. That is retaliation, which is what a lot of people tell you to do when you train. Even posters here suggested that's what Kovalev should have done. Only thing is, when Kov did that he the ref talked to him about keeping it clean disregarding that it was only done because of Ward. The same thing happened in the last fight.

Also, the reason why Kovalev was mentioning these low blows in the first place is because the ref didn't do anything about it last time. The idea is to call attention to it so the referee is forced to do something about it, but instead the referee forced Kov to try to fight through it and then fans call Kovalev a complainer and act like he was looking for a way out when in reality he just wanted a fair match.
