    Thank you for the video.
It is clear to me Kovalev is far from out. He tried to hold and weather the storm to clear his head, he might be a bit tired but the last sequence of punches are the ones that kill the fight. And at least one is proven low. Weeks blew it.
Ward might get the better of Kovalev in the second fight by starting early but honestly, questionable tactic, crouching low, leading with head and definitely targeting the front pubic area. Poor performance from Weeks for clearly interpreting wrongly where the legal belt line was from the START.

yes--and i have absolutely no idea why there are so many posters on these threads that don't think that matters.

i took a shot dead center on the cup in a PAL fight when i was 15--not hard, even by 15 y/o amateur standards; for the rest of that round, that was all i could think about.

objectively speaking--Ward fan or Kov fan--there was a clear pattern by Ward comprised of: (i) targeting Kov's belt buckle; (ii) ducking below the belt

under those circumstances, Weeks should have been extra vigilant to low blows, but in fact he became less so as the fight progressed

Targetting and hitting the belt-line after the referee specifically indicated at the beginning of the fight that punches there are OK is not a low blow or a foul.

Is Krusher defending his balls here?

    https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/...wHHYz_6-DW3WRPCVoXDF_ufDYKfaNlansXptsCgDXK1yQ

What about here? Why is he protecting his gonads from a headshot?

    http://i2.mirror.co.uk/incoming/art...ascal-lands-a-head-shot-to-Sergey-Kovalev.jpg

What about here? Is his arm low to defend on oncoming low blow?

    https://i.ytimg.com/vi/UJDiq6nMzPU/maxresdefault.jpg

Oh look. His arm is in the same position. He must have been defending against ball shots right?

I could go on but job is done.

I haven't seen this fight since it aired. For such a large man Golota had good speed, stamina and punch variety. An underrated fighter.

No, im aware that is the official ruling, but unlike you Im a fan of the sport, and im far more interesting in how the action unfolded in the ring than a typed out result.

Thanks for proving my point about the Pro Low Blow crowd again. You guys have no interest in boxing or reality, and are classess and easily shut down.

You wrote a long explanation for your stance about how Kov not protesting the decision was such a huge deal for you, and your entire argument came unglued by one camera angle...you cant even admit a mistake on that.

This is very important and refs are consistent on this. Once a ref starts doubting a boxer cannot continue, they are at risk of getting a quicker stoppage. Most refs are like this outside of Cappuccino and Stoger. It's Kovalev's fault that he looked so vulnerable and giving huge signals (not protecting himself) that he wanted out of there. TKO8 and broke the man.

    No foul here, none whatsoever.

Only thing we see is Kovalev is big pain and Ward having some kind of mercy om him because anyone else would have used that moment to crush Kovalev's skull in while he was crying holding his tummy.

Ward really let Kovalev off the hook there, that left to the liver hurt him bad. Had he continued throwing, either Kovalev goes down for the count or Weeks has no choice but to stop the fight.

Some of Golotas shots were criminally low! Stupid really, because Golota was on fire and could've beat that version of Bowe legitimately !

Childlike responses to avoid the topic at hand is the truest indicator of flawed reasoning.

No, no, no, you just have to see it from the correct point of view. Any Ward fan would agree that Golota was doing beautiful body work, especially with his deadly uppercut to the bal ... um, belly. Almost as good as Ward's finisher on Kovalev. All totally legit. :D

This was an utterly pathetic stoppage. I feel it's just as much kovalevs gaffe as weeks. He tried over playing those low blows, ward was attacking his belt line, borderline illegal many, many were borderline where refs always give warning for continues borderline shots.

Kovalev on more than just a couple of occasions was talking to weeks, looking directly at him telling him and even twice showing him he was hit LOW.

I have no idea how this tko stands, if we watch the replay, kovalev was saving his energy(as best he could) and was WINNING through 7.5 rounds, clearly. Not dominating but winning and still throwing hard. Ward caught him with a right, definitely buzzed kov, without question but that was almost a minute before the stoppage.

Ward was coming on, having his best round by FAR combining both fight (first fight never came close to dominating any rounds, hell couldn't dominate half a round nor a single minute of a round.

Kovalev recovered from the head shot, ward was attacking his body nicely, some definitely went past borderline to low. Ward landed what looked borderline shot, kovalev went down to protect his body and ward clearly landed way low, kovalev over exaggerated the intent from ward and tried to get the ref to either take a point or at the very minimum follow the rules and give kov the allotted recovery time following a clear damaging low blow.

There was zero reason for any reason what so ever to STOP THE FIGHT. This stoppage was more pathetic than the calz stoppage win over manfredo, at least calz was out classing him and it was far from a career defining, making or damaging fight.

I've been trying to find legitimate reason, a single one for weeks to stop that fight. Kovalev was clearly winning, clearly fighting perfectly fine to be able to win. I'd agree kov took an NBA or NHL level flop or dive, meaning he'd try over selling the low blow, but stop the fight for getting caught low and wanting what the rules called for ????

Terrible terrible stoppage, first time I really broke the rematch down. Kovalev put himself in very good place to win that fight if the rules were followed by the ref, I'd be flipping too if that were me

Exactly, he put himself in a corner and couldn't figure a way out.
