Another fact: you are an agenda-driven, douche-bag. Holmes' RIGHT hand was momentarily caught in the ropes. His left hand was still free to block the RIGHT hand Tyson flattened him with. Furthermore, any objective observer could see that Holmes was getting thrashed and that the knockout was inevitable. Wass, you will stop at nothing to discredit Tyson. Get another hobby.
There's a hell of a lot of if's around Tyson's loss to Douglas, I suppose they count though do they? Tyson was winning the fight no doubt but I do wonder how long Holmes would have lasted without him taking that free shot.
Tyson had free shots all night against Holmes. by the end of the fight Larry was probably wondering what it was like not to get hit in the face continuously. you are really reaching thinking Holmes had a chance in that fight.
To be fair to Holmes, in the face of such a precise and savage sustained attack from Tyson, that fourth round was a pretty good example of him calling upon his survival skills (albeit ultimately unsuccessfully) up to that point where his arm did get caught up. Whether that made a difference, I don't know. I think Tyson might well have nailed him there at that moment anyway. But, I'd still be saying Holmes showed a lot of guile to survive for so long after the initial knockdown. It wasn't the survivalist we saw against Shavers and Snipes but he still had plenty of nous about him, against a fighter who was a better finisher.
Who said Holmes was going to win the fight? It's obvious a pensioner wasn't going to beat the young Tyson......
I thought you said Holmes had a chance, apologies if I misread. I guess you are saying he might have survived a few rounds or the distance if he didn't get his glove caught but I dont see it. how come he got his glove caught in the first place? something to do with being battered against the ropes I'd say. the fact Holmes got knocked out in round four and was knocked down multiple times in the process doesn't bode well for him surviving much longer. As said, he did well to survive a Tyson finish as long as he did, not getting his hand caught probably would have saving him a few seconds, he was off balance that whole time, which is why he held the rope in the first place.
