Ortiz is clearly a far more dangerous fighter than Pulev, who has a good jab but no right hand and zero defense. Look at the way Ortiz beat a guy like Jennings, and compare Jennings performance against Wlad to Pulevs. Ortiz is at the very least a level above Pulev.

people are underestimating pulev as usual.

he has a great amateur background and a decent resume at heavyweight. he was reckless in his loss against klitschko but he will have learned from it - that's what none of you ever account for, a fighter's ability to adapt and overcome their own weaknesses. by no means is his chin fragile.

I don't think there is much point in comparing when they don't even hold a mutual opponent. Pulevs game plan against Wlad looked more like Joshuas than Jennings.

I don't argue with that some people hold Ortiz higher than Pulev, even though I might wonder on what premises, but that people write him of as a bum.

    EDIT
They do share Tony the Tiger as a mutaul opponent, my bad.

Pulev has nothing to keep Joshua away from him. Klitschko vs Pulev tells you everything you need to know about him - decent jab but a poor defence and an average chin. Pulev isn't a big hitter so Joshua will just walk through him.

Pulev is a decent opponent but in reality nobody thinks he has the style to beat Joshua. I mean how does he actually beat Joshua? He doesn't hit hard enough, Wlad couldn't keep him down and he hits way harder than Pulev.

Pulev isn't going to be able to keep Joshua on the end of his jab as he doesn't have the foot work to stay away, I mean Arias had no problem getting inside, will Joshua somehow be able to be kept at arms length when Arias had so much success in that regard.

And when opponents get inside on Pulev he has no inside game so clinches and we all saw how easily Wlad was shrugged off, no way Pulev can tie up Joshua.

Joshua on his worst day beats Pulev.

Agree entirely. Ortiz is more dangerous, but is on the same level with Ortiz resume wise. It's equally valid to choose either one to fight next, absurd to call it a duck when they are both similarly proven fighters.

Pulev is limited to the effectiveness of his power and style. Ortiz is not only southpaw he can hit and is more pressure fighter.Records mean little in this case ,its what each can do and is actually capable of in the ring and Pulev is severly limited ,which why he has no tall power punchers other than wlad on his resume.

Ortiz could create problems for more fighters than Pulev can. Really Wlads K.o of Pulev retired him in a sense ,he stopped fighting and milked his career severly.Ortiz is actually trying to get fights.

Pulev is no pushover. Joshua will grind out a stoppage but he will be made to work for it.

    Ustinov, Thompson?

Pulev have every kind of fighter on his resume and have a good amatuer career behind him, just as Ortiz. So I'm not buying that he'd be a limited one way fighter.

Its not what you buy ..its a fact that Pulevs lack of power and willingness to wait out a fight and not attack limits his chances against guys that it wouldnt with Ortiz.

Also, Pulev took on Chisora last year. Ortiz took on Chisoras victim Scott last year.

So im.not buying that one makes fight but not the other either.

Of course all styles have pros and cons. How successful you are depends on how you deal with those in the ring and not theoretical problems.

I must say I struggled to understand those sentences you put together but I think the main point is that I don't AGREE with you.

A fighter needs things like punching power, movement, inside fighting skills and a good chin to defeat Joshua, Pulev has none of that, Ortiz has some of the abilities a fighter needs to defeat Joshua so it's logical that he would have a better chance to beat Joshua than Pulev.

Styles make fights, it doesn't matter if both of them have similar resumes, Ortiz is a more dangerous opponent than Pulev.
