I'll take a seven round virtuoso dismantling over a second round one-punch knockout amy day. That Loma doesn't have one-punch power is a blessing because it gives us the chance to see complete package skills and destructive beatdowns.
It's much harder to get guys to flat out quit between rounds because of the stigma attached to it. Fighters can get knocked out and maintain (or oftentimes, gain) respect. Saying "Thanks, but no thanks" between rounds is much more humiliating. Corners should think about bailing them out with a towel throw in instead.

Yep, I at first missed that point of this thread. Loma didn't just dominate and beat Marriaga up to the point that the ref or corner stopped it. He outclassed and embarrassed Marriaga so thoroughly that as tough as he is Loma took his will, to the point that he felt quitting was less humiliating then getting back in for more.
No, it'll just be looked at as what happens when world-class fighters face Lomachenko. He turns grown men into helpless, crying children.
He doesn't really have 1 punch power his punches have an accumulative affect on his opponents. But you have to admit he is definitely insanely skilled with the best footwork and ring IQ in boxing.
Walters was on weak legs after taking quite a few flush shots when Loma up'd the pace in that last round.
Nah, Floyd hit harder than Lomachenko, he just didn't do it often. If he hit people as many times as Lomachenko does they'd go. Floyd was more concerned with his defense to the point that he skimped on offense and only hit opponents a little more than he was getting hit himself. He was actually faster and stronger than Lomachenko. Skills-wise they might be comparable, if Lomachenko didn't do the opposite of what Mayweather did staying close to his opponents and constantly attacking. He's a little like Jorge Linares, another brilliant technician with no pop in his punches. Not so much like Whitaker, although Whitaker was just as skilled. He's more like a Tommy Loughran or a Joe Calzaghe. You might compare him to Julio Cesar Chavez because he applies a lot of pressure and takes an accumulation of punches to knock you out. Kid Gavilan didn't hit particularly hard either for as good as he was. There actually aren't that many great fighters who don't have good knockout power who aren't also defensive wizards like Pep, Canto, or Locche.
I still can't believe it. Walters and Marriaga two usually aggressive boxers backing up and scared AF! Chenko got them shell shocked that they quit.
