That was a prime Wlad.

The legs are the first thing to go when fighters are shot. Wlad was more mobile in that fight than ever before.

A younger Wlad was heavier and clinched a lot more. He knew that approach would be detrimental to his safety , which is why he came in weighting the lightest he's been in ten years.

Anyway , Joshua was pre -prime and still a novice. The fight was fought on an even playing field. Joshua would blow away any version of Wlad

I shudder to think what Lennox Lewis would have done to Wlad.

That is really the difference, when Lennox was getting old he was destroying Vitali's face, when Wlad was getting old he was getting beaten senseless by a novice and a fat boy.

Klitschko showed enough to get the respect. He proved this still to be a 50/50-fight after the final bell aswell. Could have gone either way.

Just don't like the stoppage. He stood on his feet and Joshua gassed out again. But in the grand scheme of things, I'm quit good with it after all.

I mean, really? How many fights like Pac/Horn or Abraham/Eubank do you have to watch?

Do you ever look at the top fighters in every division and wonder to yourself, "Hm. I wonder why they're all below 40..."? Do you? Or are you too stupid?

I hate this eye test nonsense.

These are professional boxers with years and years of training. How "fast"/"strong"/"good" they look is just a reflection of what their opponent lets them get away with.

AJ would get the Grant treatment..........you cant go life and death with a shot 41 year old and expect to beat lemmie, no way no how.

WK was/is shot beyond shot, he pushes the jab, has no snap in his punches, terrible stamina , confidence and especially coordination....his arm flailing defense movements were almost comical.

BTW, AJ is a KO waiting to happen, he is as good as he ever will be , but poor stamina , a mediocre chin, stiff as a board with no head movement and not setting his shots up with a jab is going to be his un doing against a live prime opponent who comes to win.

 

This fight certainly lived up to the hype and big-timepromotion

and mega crowd in attendance sure got their money's worth

As good as Vladimir did in this fight, especially after being a year and a half inactive, I find it surprising he retired rather than taking the rematch


With that said, I don't see anyone out there even being a threat to Joshua, aside from possibly Ortiz

 

Agreed. Such a shame we don't get part 2. Despite how some boxing-hipsters like to portray this fight as shot-to-bits pensioner vs robotic overhyped amateur, it will go down in history as one of the great heavyweight contests. The fight had everything action wise and showcased the skills of 2 elite big men whilst dispelling some of the lazy criticisms aimed at both prior.

 

I agree, but that was Joshua's first true fight at a world level. Who's to say that in 3 years Joshua wouldn't do the exact same to this version of Joshua?

 

I can sort of understand why he chose the retirement over re match..

He gave it his all and at his age it would be pretty much impossible to get back to that level again.. AJ on the other hand would have got a great deal of experience out of it and should come back better next time around...

I could see it being a one sided beat down and Wlad could too...
