Apparently there was some HOF thingy and channel changes. Could have had an impact, but overall this is not just bad for Loma but for top rank. We will see if ti was really a channel thing/hof thing based off the Crawford/Indongo numbers. If Crawford/Indongo flops, it pretty much shows that the whole ESPN move was a complete and utter failure. Not to mention that Loma got promotion on first take, and I'm assuming Crawford will too.

The main event was on way too late. That can work on HBO but why even bother with ESPN if it's going to be past midnight, you're not gonna get casuals that way.

I also despise ESPN in general.

I got frustrated and set the DVR. The whole programming issue was a cluster FK

I think Vasyl will break a mill on his next fight especially if it's Salido

Meh numbers. Not great, not horrible. The scheduling did him zero favors.

The good news is that there's a lot of positive buzz about the fight, so hopefully next time we'll see a better opponent and a better timeslot.

If I were Top Rank, I'd also be livid with ESPN's programming treatment of the card, basically getting undercut for a HOF induction and being flipped between different stations. Not having Loma come out until almost 12:30 am EST is a joke.

    I can't stand ESPN, either.

The other numbers being brought up in this thread make for an apples to oranges comparison, because the other networks were smart enough to actually start their cards at a reasonable hour. You don't build a casual audience on a main event fight that doesn't start until well after midnight.

Yep. People still go on about Rigondeaux-Agbeko to this day, but every time Lomachenko has done a crappy number there's always a myriad of excuses. He's simply not a star despite being paid like one and treated like one by lots of boxing fans.

I don't think anyone thinks Loma is a star. Pretty much no one knows him besides actual boxing fans. Casuals don't know who the **** he is. The biggest "stars" we have are fighting in September.

I dunno, I've seen lots of people suggest Salido or Rigondeaux or before them Walters should take whatever small percentage of the purse Top Rank is offering and be grateful for it because Lomachenko's such a bigger star.

Yeah some idiots did say that. But there were some reasonable Loma fans that did give some good logic. Even though Loma makes more than these guys and in some cases way more, they still get paid way more than they would fighting anyone else. TR is most likely losing a **** load of money with Loma investing in his future, so they're willing to give Loma the big $. I mean how much money is Rigo/Loma going to make lol. Casuals literally give 0 ****s about these 2.

As for Salido/Loma. Loma should have gave Salido the bigger purse. If he was desperate to avenge that loss, he should have done everything in his power to get him in the ring. 3 years ago though.

This. It did start late and I am in California. People in the East Coast are either drunk or asleep by main event.

it shows that the US just doesn't care about boxing right now. there needs to be a tyson, foreman or dempsey style fighter from the US to bring it back.
