Povetkin knows his time is up and he can't get the final big fight anymore

As we have seen, Wilder avoided him like a plague. Eddie Hearn or Joshua haven't ever even named Alexander Povetkin in interview. Joseph Parker? never.

Age is cathing up for Povetkin and he can't get the title shot what he was looking for. I guess he will take 2 or 3 circus fights in Russia against journeyman opposition Briggs, Thompson, maybe Lucas Browne, and then he retires.

Sad but this looks like it may be the reality. His best play is to fight Hammer and force the alphabets hand. Briggs generates attention but no movement within the alpahbets. Plus the belt holders can dismiss that win as nothing more than a sideshow.
Povetkin deserves a chance at Joshua Parker or Wilder. Who I doubt will ever get into the ring with him.

Alexander should have thought about that. Wasting Deontay's time, and the bomb squad. Wilder was heart broken he couldn't defend his title, by knocking out the drugged up Russian.

I think he'll fight AJ before he retires. It's a big money fight and AJ wants as many of those as he can. Once he clears out the obvious fights I think he'll go to Povetkin.

Wilder will have fallen off long before then. By the time he's 35 he'll be Michael Grant 2.0... Being served as fodder to prospects and contenders on the rebound... Hell, Grant was actually better than Wilder. There was just no Stiverne for him to pluck a belt from.

Agreed. I think there is a good chance Joshua gets clipped before then too. If he were to fight Povetkin now and not wait until he's in his 40's he would lose.

I don't see Joshua losing for a while.. 41 year old Wlad was probably still the #2 HW in world by a considerable margin, but yeah Povetkin would probably have the best chance of beating Joshua out of anyone who's active in the division currently. Joshua/Wilder would go like Joshua/Molina or Joshua/Martin - Wilder is a complete joke in comparison to him.

With Wlad and Fury out the road, Povetkin is the toughest challenge out there for Joshua.

I hope Joshua fights Povetkin next year after Wilder. Joshua will probably fight Parker though.

I disagree, he's just taking the fights that will enable him to work his way up the rankings. Beating Rudenko put him in the WBA and WBO's top 10, Briggs will put him in the WBA top 5 and maybe in contention to fight for the regular belt. As long as he doesn't lose I reckon he'll land a title shot before hitting 40. He's backed by billionaire Ryabinsky so it's not like he can't put some attractive offers on the table.

Also, neither Briggs nor Browne are journeymen. Briggs is a former lineal world champion and Browne is still undefeated... o_O

I said after the 2nd doping story he'd get frozen out. It gives anyone an excuse not to fight him. Povetkin's only hope is if he gets a mandatory shot or if he is seen as vulnerable due to age in a year or 2.

If Povetkin gets protected like Joshua does in regards to PED testing then I would bet my car that Alexander flatlines him better than Nistor did.

Hasn't been done for roids like Ortiz but I don't hear many people bashing him like they do Povetkin. We're also still to hear Fury's UKAD hearing for the same, again not many slating him.

Against Wilder it was a storm in a tea cup that the Bronze Ducker either set him up or got lucky cause he was back home in bum**** before anything official came out...

The WBC had no choice but to suspend the fight, what they should have done was strip Wilder for running..

Given these guys short sentences (Browne et al) and at the same a drug testing lab loses it accreditation you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work out what really happened....
