Oh just shut up already and get over it. Yes Pac played a significant role in making JMM become more popular and an ATG but at the end of the day he'll always be remembered as the guy who finished his rivalry in emphatic fashion.
Also a five weight champ with ten title fight victories under his belt. Not a lot of those running around. The Barrera, Casamayor, Katsidis, Diaz, and Salido victories were especially nice for the quality of the wins. But Marquez also has fight of the year honors from 2009 and 2012 too.
So taking into consideration the sparring footage of him dropping a sparring partner HARD with that same shot in the lead up to that fight you still say it was a lucky punch?
It's true. Except for going 1-2-1 with Pacman, his resume is not impressive. The Barrera win was a gift. So not much left really to brag about. Boxers befuddled him. He needed someone to come straight at him to make the fight for him. Otherwise he was lost. Marquez fans overrate him because they are in awe of PAC so much. But Morales has the best win over PAC by far. Once again, Timeout is telling it like it is.
He is primarily going down as Pacmans nemesis. But being the first to ko Casamayor and for a lineal title was a huge win. Diaz was a pretty big win too, I thought Barrera was a close fight and need to rewatch. Many do seem to believe he beat Chris John. Lots of solid wins beyond the great wins.
Its an awesome video of the couple of minutes before the right hand KO shot. I love videos like that where there is no sound, just the roar of the crowd in the backround. Everyone should take a look at this video with no sound because it contradicts the stereotype that JMM was getting hammered and about to get stopped before he landed that right hand. The video actually shows JMM hammering Pacquiao with leads and counters and evading Pacquiao's own shots. JMM was actually in control the last couple of minutes before the devestation and this video proves it. Awesome to here the eruption of the crowd and see the emotion going atop that ring. The Master Juan Manuel Marquez having taken matters into his own hands and not let politics decide the official winner of the fight. Absolutely Magnificent!!!!
